The main content of this thesis is to be regarding the compilation of a Chinese textbook,suitable for Romanian elementary students.The thesis is divided into four main chapters.The first chapter includes the background of this research,the current status quo of teaching and learning Chinese language as a second language in Romania,the objectives and the intended purposes of this research,along with the methods used and the target it was designed for.The second chapter discusses the objectives of the above-mentioned Chinese textbook,the process behind designing it and the teaching objectives that are to be reached,the principles according to which it was created and an annual planning for the next academic year(2017-2018)and the teaching methods the teacher should apply when using this textbook.The main teaching methods should be TPR and games.There are also stated the advantages of learning Chinese at an early age.The textbook itself represents the third chapter.The designed textbook contains 10 units,each unit is divided into two parts.The textbook was designed in such way that children can use their curiosity and flexibility in order to learn some oral Chinese in a natural a way.The forth chapter includes the feedback the textbook received after being used in a public school in Romania,as a textbook for a Chinese optional course.This last chapter draws the conclusions,the feedback and the comments regarding this textbook,and it points out the strong and weak aspects of designing this Chinese textbook.
