Nanyang public school holds a pivotal position in Chinese education history.Despite its being the pioneer of China’s higher education,Nanyang public school is also the first to write its own textbook-The New Elementary Textbook,which is of modern significance.It presents a lot of groundbreaking writing ideas like its multiple-crossed subjects,consistency of classical Chinese,grammar concepts,following category and step-by-step process.However,The New Elementary Textbook does not cause much attention in academic world and its value has not yet been discovered.Through careful analysis of the textbook and relative data,this paper tries to observe its value from a new perspective of “cross-border fusion”.Meanwhile,taken the characteristics of Internet time into consideration,it puts forward some assumptions and ideas for the compilation and use of Chinese textbooks,and expresses some considerations and outlook of the narrowed use of Chinese textbook.Four chapters are included in this article:Chapter1: Introduction.First of all,the background and significance of the study are discussed.And then it explains the ideas and methods of research,which mainly focus on the overview of the pertinent literature.Finally,it defines some core concept like “cross-border fusion” and Chinese textbooks to lay foundation for further writing.Chapter2: A summary to The New Elementary Textbook.This chapter gives a comprehensive interpretation of textbooks from the background of compiling this book,textbook style and its main content,which tries to restore its true appearance.The background of compiling this book contains its historical background,editor’s background,and user’s background.The textbook style is explained based on the basic structure of textbooks,the four elements of textbooks and the logic of textbooks.The main content of the textbook is introduced from the learning of its word,phrases and sentences,short passage reading and grammar and so on.Chapter3: Investigation on “cross-border fusion” of The New Elementary Textbook.Firstly,it defines the concept of “cross-border fusion”,makes a statement on the nature of the Chinese language and the function of the platform,and explains the feasibility of the “cross-border fusion” of Chinese subjects.Then,through the analysis of several representative Chinese textbooks,it aims to illustrate different phenomena of Chinese textbooks “cross-border fusion”,and deliberately highlights the unique contribution of The New Elementary Textbook in the “cross-border fusion”,such as interdisciplinary,life-closed,reason and affection combined,classical and modern Chinese integrated and so on.At the same time,it also points out the historical limitations of the textbooks: lack of literary genres,absent from art disciplines,short of imaginary guidance.Chaper4: New trend of “cross-border fusion” of Chinese textbooks in internet era.Concentrated on the background of “Internet +”,this chapter makes reasonable assumptions and imagination on the new trend of “cross-border fusion” of Chinese textbooks,hoping that Chinese teaching materials of the new era can really reach a kind of “All-encompassed,unlimited links,existed everywhere,all-pervasive” freedom.It develops mainly from the contents,methods,tools,and students as the main body of the participation of “cross-border fusion” of Chinese textbooks.Finally,it explains the new problems that will be encountered in the context of “Internet +”,which shows that the more important significance of "cross-border fusion" lies in the guidance and innovation of educational philosophy.
