Writing ability is the integrated embodiment of Chinese accomplishment,it’s also an important reference to measure a middle school student’s Chinese accomplishment. In many cases there have been worryingdeteriorations, just like student’s writing skills. Lots of studentsdon’t like writing, and are afraid of writing, even more they try to avoid writing. Because they can’t usewriting methods and language skills in the right way, their writing can only get a passing grade. There is a little excellent compositions. Based on the reality that middle school’s studentsneed to improve their writing level at once, this paper choose the novel teaching as the breakthrough point, and try to promote middle school students’ writing ability effectively in some aspects, such as through the analysis and research of characteristics ofthe novel whichselected for the textbook.This paper is divided into four parts. The introduction part mainly expounds the reasons andsignificance of the thesis why it puts forward. The first part mainly analysis the middle school students’ writing problems in four aspects,namelystagnation of the mind, weakness of style consciousness, the lack of beauty, kindness and truth and writing skills andmonotonous writing skills. The second part arguments the feasibility that novel teaching can promote the cultivation of students’ ability in writing by introducing the summary of writing competence and the characteristics of novel. The third part is the main part of this paper. Through the analysis of the characteristics of the novel which can solve the four problems in the first part. And this part includes teaching designsand ideas in the specification. Mainly based on novels in the textbooks of middle school in the way of writing skills, language parts, materials, and demonstrates the novel teaching enlightenment and significance of the cultivation of writing ability.Through this research, the author thinks that with the help of novel teaching to improve students’ writing ability is the beneficial supplement of the teaching strategies which called read and write, read presses to write. This is helpful for teachers to teach novels which can make full use of the class teaching in order to accomplish twice the result with half effort.The main purpose of this paper is that the language teachers can make full use of the text when they teach novels.According to the characteristics of novel text, the language teachers teach some knowledge of writing to the students, which can let the student in imperceptible to improve writing ability.
