Nowadays, owing to the rapid progress of society, reading is certainly becoming moreindispensable. Undoubtedly, reading is like a compass, guiding everyone who wants toaccomplish something. However, in our life, how much can book account for? The increase inthe number of Chinese reading and reading quantity must be laid a foundation from the stage ofstudents. As a frontline teacher, I am deeply sorry and sad for this situation.The middle school stage is the key period for students to construct reading ways andmethods, which will deeply affect the forming of students’ reading habits, and the quality oftheir future lifelong learning. Chinese teachers should play a vital part in enhancing students’systematic Chinese quality.In teaching, many disadvantages have been fully exposed. Some teachers only rigidlyadhere to the text materials, and do not pay attention to the extracurricular reading, not tomention certain relevant advice to students. Some teachers only pay attention to the knowledgeexplanation, and do not pay attention to the guiding of the profound understanding of thematerials. The exam-oriented education let the students live in the sea of exercises, which leadsto students’ shortage of reading time.In view of this teaching situation, I explore a method of teaching reading–to enhancereading by writing. I try to improve the current situation of students’ reading through thisteaching method.“Enhancing reading by writing” is a reading teaching pattern to stimulatestudents’ self-inquiry based on the teaching aims and with the help of some writing tasks withsome specific skills and a moderate level.This paper expounds from the five aspects: first, the causes and significance of thecombination of reading and writing; second, the theoretical basis of it; third, the implementingprinciple of the combination of reading and writing; forth, the implementing strategy; fifth, thepractical effect and problems.Enhancing reading through writing is just one of the methods of combining writing andreading. Meanwhile, it needs a process of constant accumulation, which will lead to an ultimatechange of quality. I think this method can continue to motivate students’ reading interest, andconstantly enhance the students’ intrinsic motivation of reading, which can strengthen the student’s systematic Chinese quality.It enables students to read experiencing a series of changes: being unwilling, willing, able,expert and happy to read. Thus students could develop a good reading habit and become avoluntary and active readers all their lives. They will get wisdom and development in booksunder the wise guidance of the teachers.
