Language is an essential part and a carrier of culture,therefore translation means changing culture carrier of the source text to the target text.Such a change in rendition process may cause two problems: first,no counterpart of certain culture factor exists in target language,generating lexical gaps;second,potential readers are short of relevant cultural common knowledge,leading to misunderstandings.Culture-loaded words,also known as lexical gaps,refer to those with cultural information of the source language yet without correspondences in the target language.The author conducts an extended research on the range of loading culture,making further analysis on other factors that may carry culture,such as language using and tones in sentences.One of the major difficulties in to translate these parts,to which the author paid special attention by resorting various strategies.In this way the author intends to realize function delivery of the target text,loyalty to the text senders meanwhile conforming to the culture and expression rules of the target language.This translation report is based on the project “Wenchuang Gifts”,in which the author renders innovative service-oriented webpages(gifts).With Christiane Nord's text analysis model as the theoretical framework and case study as the research method,the report analyzes the translation of culture-loaded words and sentences;generalizes corresponding strategies via referring to parallel texts and comprehensively taking into account the context as well as both extratextual and intratextual factors subject to Nord's text analysis model.With eight translation strategies,including lessening exaggeration,free translation,annotation,unit conversion and omission,etc.,being summed up,this report aims to provide referable suggestion on the translation of service text(gifts)loaded with culture information.
