A Report On The Translation Of Shaanxi Provincial Government Work Report (2017) Under The Guidance Of Skopostheorie

In recent years,with frequent foreign exchanges,more people want to know about China's economy and policies.As a foreign publicity material,the government work report summarizes the work of the past year and proposes the plan for the coming year.Its translation will help the world understand the political system and relevant policies.As an important player of the “Belt and Road”,Shaanxi is also becoming more and more active on the international stage.The translation of Shaanxi Provincial Government Work Report helps the international community better understand local policies and development plans.Under the guidance of Skopostheorie,the author finishes the translation practice based on the skopos rule,coherence rule,and fidelity rule.On the basis of translation practice,this translation report summarizes and analyzes the specific problems encountered in the translation at the lexical,syntactic and discourse levels.In order to cope with some translation difficulties such as culture-specific words,abbreviated words,long sentences and non-subject sentences,various translation techniques are employed.This translation practice report is composed of five chapters.The first chapter is a general introduction of this paper,including background of this translation,description of the source text,objects as well as the structure of this translation report.The second chapter illustrates the process of the translation practice,including pre-translation preparation,the translation itself and the post-translation quality control.The third chapter is the study of features of the source text and the theoretical foundation.The fourth chapter is the case study under the guidance of Skopostheorie and some translation techniques are proposed.The fifth chapter expounds the major findings and the limitations of this translation practice and the report as well as gives some suggestions for further study.
