A Practice Report On The Translation Of Anhui Provincial Government Work Report (2016)

This is a practice report on the C-E translation of The Anhui Provincial Government Work Report(2016).The subject is assigned by the supervisor on the author’s intention of attending the Civil Servants Exam.This thesis is supported by the three rules of the Skopos Theory.Namely,the Skopos Rule,the Coherence Rule and the Fidelity Rule.And The Anhui Provincial Government Work Report(2016)was discussed in the following different levels,that is,the lexical level,the syntactic level and the textual level.The effective translation methods and strategies were discussed,hoping it can contribute to the translation of the similar type of texts.The author,firstly,analyzed the features of political text,and introduced the Skopos Theory,mainly,the three rules of the Skopos Theory.The examples were chosen from The Anhui Provincial Government Work Weport(2016)and analyzed under the guidance of the Skopos Rule,the Coherence Rule and the Fidelity Rule.To be specific,this practice translation report mainly consists of four parts;the first part is the description of the source,the analysis of the text and introduction of the theoretical basis.And then the author discussed the purposes and significance of this project.The second part focuses on the translation process,including the preparation before translation,text type,the translation process and assessment.The third part is mainly about the typical problems the author encountered during the translation process including the lexical level,the syntactic level and the textual level.And how the translation strategies are used to solve these problems including the literal translation and free translation,addition and omission,and condensation.The last part is the conclusion of the translation practice,the translation skills acquired,the experience leant,and the shortcomings as well.
