The source text is a collection of speeches addressed by authorities of Yantai at the Opening Ceremony of Symposium & Founding of Silk Road Hi-Tech Park Alliance. The administrative committee of Yantai Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone is both the organizer and the initiator of the translation task.As the target text acts as speech translation for the simultaneous interpreters at the symposium, the special interpreting situation ought to be taken into account in the translation. Therefore,in the process of translating, the translation strategy of adapting to the interpreting situation and making corresponding adjustments needs to be adopted.Given the significance of interpreting situation in the translation, its accompanying factors such as the sender's intention, the audience, the text function, etc.were also taken into account.Under the guidance of Nord's “Extratextual Factors” for translation-oriented text analysis, the speaker's intention, the target audience's background and expectation as well as the function of the target text all have been analyzed, and then the translation skills were put forward from perspectives of the interpreter, the speaker and the audience.Firstly, the interpreter's pressure on attention allocation could be relieved with syntactic linearity and restriction on the sentence length in the translation.Secondly, proper emotional words should be used and necessary changes on appellation should be made in order to guarantee the precise delivery of the emotion expressed by the speaker.Thirdly, reasonable omission ought to be adopted in the translation, and expressions with cultural specialties should be handled flexibly. The report is divided into four parts.Part one gives a general idea about the translation task.Part two gives the translation process including the theoretical basis and the quality control.Part three is the body part of the report, focusing on ways of adjusting to the interpreting situation in the translation. The last part is the conclusion, making clear the major findings in completing the report and the limitations of the report as well as suggestions to other translators in this field.
