A Study On The Translation Of Construction Contract Based On "Nord's Translation-Oriented Text Analysis Model"

Chinese construction industry and engineering consulting industry have a comparatively short history,so the construction contracts drafted by the Chinese contractors usually cannot meet international standards,which has undoubtedly influenced the competition of Chinese contractors internationally.Based on the theory of Nord's Translation-Oriented Text Analysis Model,this thesis takes FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Construction as material to make a case study on the translation of construction contracts,with the aim of improving the translation of China's construction contracts and raising the competitive edge of Chinese contractors internationally.Through the analysis of the eight extratextual factors and eight intratextual factors,this thesis discovers that these factors supplement each other and play an important role in the translation of construction contracts.Finally,the conclusion is reached that documentary translation should be adopted when translating construction contracts.
