Practice Report On The E-C Translation Of Est Under The Guidance Of Nord’s Text Analysis Theory

With the deepening of globalization,the exchanges of science,technology,and culture among various countries have been continuously strengthened,and the demand for translators has been continuously on the rise.Among them,the translation of specialized English is especially important,which features complex context,numerous terms,rigorous structure,and strong professionalism.Therefore,the translation of the EST needs the guidance of relevant theories.This practice report,based on the translation practice of Blockchain for AI: Review and Open Research Challenges,is intended to apply appropriate translation strategies under the guidance of “text analysis theory”.As the second-generation representative of German Functional School,Christian Nord put forward “Text Analysis Theory” in his book Text Analysis in Translation.Nord believes that the purpose of translation is not to pursue the equivalence between the target text and the source text but to emphasize that the target text should choose the best processing method based on the analysis of the source language text and aim at the expected function of the target text.Therefore,the analysis of the source text is regarded as an extremely important link in the translation process.In the process of translation,the source text should first be analyzed for intratextual and extratextual factors,and at the same time two basic translation products(and processes)should be distinguished,namely,documentary translation and instrumental translation.This practice report is divided into five chapters.The first chapter mainly describes the translation task,mainly the background knowledge of the translation materials.The second chapter is the translation process,which consists of pre-translation,while-translation,and post-translation.The third chapter is an overview of “Text Analysis Theory”.The fourth chapter is the translation case analysis,in which intratextual and extratextual factors of the Text Analysis Theory are analyzed.Besides,the corresponding translation strategy has been applied to translating the source text.The last chapter summarizes the whole translation process,including the difficulties,thesolutions and the weaknesses of this translation practice,hoping to provide help for other translators of this field.
