A Report On The Translation Of Two Chemical Process Patents

Patent is a kind of valid text that is frequently handled by the professional translators in their daily work.As the enhancement of the international academic communication,people's demands for patent translation are also increasing.By the translation of the two selected chemical process patents,the translator firstly summarizes the implication of the patent and the features of the text,analyzes the readers and states the objective of this task in this report.Then the author describes the preparation work for background knowledge and translation tools before translation,explores the translation theory and analyzes the difficulties and solutions in the process of translation.By selecting part of translation materials as the examples and applying Newmark's ST and CT theory,the author carries on a deep analysis and comes to a conclusion finally.i.e.there is no absolute semantic translation and communicative translation in one text translation and they should supplement each other.The whole report is composed of four parts,which mainly includes the task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.The translator hopes this report will offer readers the experience on the English to Chinese translation of the chemical process patents.
