ObjectivesIn order to investigate the current situation of workplace violence in psychiatric nurses suffered,we explored the influence factors of psychiatric nurses suffered workplace violence and empathy ability, the relationship between emotional intelligence and communication competency from the perspective of interpersonal communication. It will provide a theoretical basis and data support for a more in-depth and comprehensive research of workplace violence of psychiatric nurses.MethodWe used regional stratification and cluster sampling to investigate the clinical nurses of 5 psychiatric hospitals in Shandong province. The research tools include the general information questionnaire, workplace violence frequency measurement scale,Jefferson empathy scale,Emotional intelligence scale and nurses clinical communication competence scale. All statistial analysis was performed by SPSS 19.0 statistical software. The statistical methods include descriptive analysis,chi-square,independent sample t-test,One-way ANOVA analysis,Person correlation analysis and multivariate linear regression analysis.Results1.General demographic information of Psychiatric nursesThe total number of subjects in this study was 453,including 103 males(22.74%),and 350 females(77.26%).The age is mainly between 26?35 years old(61.59%);Married 319 people, accounting for 70.42%;There are 286 non-only-child children, accounting for 63.13%;Education degree is mainly undergraduate, total 282 people, accounting for 62.25%;The professional title is mainly senior nurses, accounted for 45.03%;Working years were mainly 1?10 years, with a total of 282 people, accounting for 70.42%;Employment form is in proportion to the proportion of the non-present;Closed ward nurses,345 people.accounting for 76.16%;Participate in the training of violence,389 people, accounting for 83.66%.2.Psychiatric nurses suffer from workplace violence differences in general demographic data.Analysis of the frequency in the workplace violenc from psychiatric nurses, there were 29 people suffering from zero frequency violence in this study, accounting for 6.40%;131 people with low frequency, accounting for 28.92%;The medium frequency of violence,a total of 224 people, accounted for 49.45%;and 69 people with high frequency, accounting for 15.23%.Analysis of Scores and types of workplace violence from psychiatric nurses, the workplace violence average is(6.64± 3.56)points,The least types of violence were verbal and physical harassment, which accounted for 32.23%and 15.45%,respectively.The types of violence suffered were emotional abuse, threats and threats, and physical attacks, accounting for 89.19%,80.35%and79.47%respectively.By t-test.analysis of variance and chi-square analysis shows that the frequency of violent attack on psychiatric nurses in age, gender, title, hospital degree, working years, type of ward, employment forms and whether to take part in violent training(P<0.05);Psychiatric nurses score of workplace violence in age, gender, professional titles, hospital degree, working years, type of ward, position and whether to attend training of violence differences, statistically significant difference(P<0.05).3.The correlation among Workplace violence, empathy, emotional intelligence and communication competency in psychiatric nurses.Person correlation analysis showed that the scores of the empathy ability in each dimension of psychiatric nurses were negatively correlated with the scores of workplace violence and various types of workplace violence scores of s psychiatric nurses(r =-0.241?-0.586,P<0.01).Psychiatric nurses emotional intelligence scores were negatively correlated with the psychiatric nurses scores on workplace violence scores and various types of violence scores(r =-0.214?-0.496,P<0.01);Psychiatric nurses clinical communication ability and the scores of each dimension of psychiatric nurses score were negatively correlated the scores of workplace violence scores and various types of violence scores(r =-0.116?-0.500,P<0.01).4.Multiple linear regression analysis of influencing factors on psychiatric nurses suffered workplace violenceRespectively by psychiatric nurses workplace violence total score and each type of score as the dependent variable, the single factor analysis was statistically significant variables as independent variables in regression equations, multiple stepwise regression,In the case of alpha = 0.05,alpha = 0.10,when the dependent variable is the physical attacks,perspective-taking,transpositional thinking,self-emotion management, emotional support competency, whether to participate in the training of violence and gender into the equation, the six variables can be combined to explain 30.9%of the variance of body attack(R2 = 0.309,F = 33.217,P=0.000),The influence of self-emotion management is the most important; When the dependent variable is emotional abuse, emotional awareness, type of ward, hospital degree,perspective-taking,transpositional thinking,one-child or not and whether to participate in the training of violence into the equation, the seven variables can be combined to explain 28.3%of the variance of emotional abuse,(R2 = 0.283,F =25.130,P = 0.000),the influence of emotional perception is the most important; When the dependent variable is intimidation, communication competency in difficult clinic scene,perspective-taking,transpositional thinking, type of ward and hospital degree into the equation, can jointly explain intimidation 39.6%of the variance(R2 = 0.396,F= 58.539,P = 0.000),among them, the difficult situation communication skills is the most important; When the dependent variable is verbal sexual harassment, emotional management, emotional care, transpositional thinking, type of ward, employment form into the equation, five variables can be combined to explain 35.0%variation in verabl sexual harassment(R2 = 0.350,F = 48.117,P = 0.000),of which the influence of emotional care was the most important; When the dependent variable is sexual harassment of the body, transpositional thinking, emotional care, emotional use and gender entered into the regression equation, five variables can be combined to explain 26.0%variation in verabl sexual harassment of the body(R2=0.260,F =39.262,P = 0.000),of which the perspective-taking was the most important; When the dependent variable is the workplace violence, transpositional thinking,self-emotional management, communication competency in difficult clinic scene, type of ward,perspective-taking,whether to participate in the training of violence, and emotional care into the regression equation, seven variables can be combined to explain 55.5%variance of workplace violence(R2 = 0.555,F = 79.420,P = 0.000).The influence of transposition thinking is the most important.Conclusion1.Psychiatric nurses were exposed to higher frequency and higher risk of violence within a year. From the frequency of violence, the medium frequency of violence is the most,From the types of violence, the proportion of physical attack, emotional abuse and intimidation were the most commom types of violence, the proportion of verbal harassment and physical harassment is relatively small.2.The score of empathy ability, emotional intelligence and communication ability of psychiatric nurses were in the upper middle level, and there is still room for improvement.3.Psychiatric nurses suffer from workplace violence and various types of violence, which are negatively related to their dimensions of empathy, emotional intelligence and clinical communication.4.The portion of dimension in Empathy ability, emotional intelligence and clinical communication ability(perspective-taking,emotional care,empathy,thinking,self-emotional management, others emotional management, emotional perception competency, communication competency in difficult clinic scene)for psychiatric nurses suffered workplace violence have negative prediction effect.
