Objectives: To understand the hospital workplace violence against pediatrics nurses in general hospitals in Lanzhou,to analyze the influence factors of workplace violence of pediatric nurses,and to provide the scientific evidences for reducing the incidence of workplace violence of pediatric nurses.Method : This study adopted The Modified Version of Hospital Workplace Violence questionnaire and Chinese-version of Jefferson Scale of Empathy-Health Professionals descriptive design was used.285 pediatrics nurses working in 5 general hospitals of Lanzhou were recruited.The Modified Version of Hospital Workplace Violence questionnaire developed was used to collect data.The data were established by EpiData 3.0,and analyzed by software of SPSS version 17,0.Chi-square test and the multi-factor logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the related factors in hospital workplace violence.Results: 1.Around 50.9% of the participants were exposed to workplace violence in the past year in general hospitals of Lanzhou.The incidence of verbal violence,physical violence,and sexual harassment was 62.3%,2.9%,0.7%,respectively.2.The characteristics of workplace violence of pediatric nurses: 45.3% of the violence were taken place in the day shift,41.0% have occurred in ward;53.2% were performed mainly by patients' families,among these,69.1% of the perpetrators were males and 61.2% of perpetrators are middle-aged;the reason of violence mainly is "quality is low(49.6%)" and "unreasonable request was rejected(30.2%)".The main impact of violence to nurses is feeling aggrieved(57.6%)?angry(38.8%)and scared(23.7%);61.9% of nurses continue to explain with patience after the workplace violence;72.7% nurses with low empathy ability had suffered workplace violence.3.After multiple logistic regression analysis,the result shows that working fixed number of year,empathy ability of nurses have influencesin workplace violence of hospital.Conclusion:1.The phenomenon of general hospital of pediatric nurses in Lanzhou suffering from workplace violence is relatively common;the main form of violence is verbal,second is physical violence,with lower incidence of sexual harassment.Violence have many emotional impacts on nurses,such as grievance?angry and fear.2.High empathy ability can avoid hospital workplace violence.
