| Objective:A randomized clinical trial was designed for demonstrate treatment efficacy of the XNKQ technique combined with the 3 abdominal needles in comparison with the traditional XNKQ protocol for the treatment of urinary incontinence after a stroke.Methods:40 patients met the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were randomly divided into 2 groups of 20 patients each:a study group and control group. The study group was treated by XNKQ with 3 abdominals needles using the points:GV26(人中),PC6(内关)and SP6(三阴交)for XNKQ technique and CV6(气海)with ST28(水道)bilateral for the 3 abdominals needles;the control group was treated using CV4(关元),CV3(中极),BL23(肾俞),BL28(膀胱俞),SP9(阴陵泉),SP6(三阴交).In both groups the acupuncture was associated to electro acupuncture.Treatments were applied for 30 minutes each time, once a day for 10 days repeating itself after two days of rest. The indicators used were:maximum bladder filling volume, urine retention volume,ICI-Q-SF questionnaire and Urinary Incontinence Degree Assessment Method. Results:Before the trial the differences in age, medical history, maximum bladder filling volume, urine retention volume and ICI-Q-SF questionnaire had no statistical difference(P>0.05)between two groups, therefore baseline of the two groups was consistent and comparable. After finish the course of treatment, the difference in maximum bladder filling volume, urine retention volume and ICI-Q-SF questionnaire show a significantly statistical significance(P<0.01)Conclusion:The results of the study show that the group treated with the XNKQ technique with 3 abdominal needles protocol presents a clear improvement in comparison with patients treated with the traditional acupuncture protocol. |
