Objective: To observe Cuocang Decoction's efficacy on acne vulgaris with wind-heat syndrome, and explore the pharmacology through testing the change of skin grease content before and after the treatment;to observe the possible adverse reaction, and evaluate the drug safety,so as to provide a basis for the treatment. Methods: 69 patients of acne vulgaris with wind-heat syndrome are randomly divided into the treatment group(35 cases)and control group(34 cases). The first group takes Cuocang Decoction orally and externally applies Fusidic acid cream, and the second group takes Fufang Zhenzhu Ancuang Capsule orally and externally applies Fusidic acid cream, for one course of 4 weeks.Clinical sign score, recurrence, adverse reaction and change of skin grease content are analyzed after the treatment.Results:1.The treatment group achieves a total effective rate of 94.29%,with 4 cases of cure,11 cases of excellent effect,8 cases of improvement and 2 cases of ineffective results, while the control group achieves a total effective rate of 76.47%,with 1 cases of cure,4 cases of excellent effect,21 cases of improvement and 8 cases of ineffective results. There is a significant difference between the two groups in terms of skin lesion, syndrome of Chinese medicine before and after treatment, and general curative effect scores(P<0.01),which indicates a significant clinical efficacy for both groups. The post-treatment significant difference in skin lesion score and general curative effect score(P<0.05)proves that the treatment group outperforms the control group in skin lesion correction and general treatment;the comparison of syndrome of Chinese medicine, with P>0.05,shows no advantage of Cuocang Decoction in improving the general symptoms.2.The comparison of pre-treatment skin grease content achieves a P < 0.01,namely a significant difference, suggesting that both groups are highly effective in reducing the skin grease content.A significant difference of post-treatment skin grease content(P<0.05),proves that Cuocang Decoction is superior to the regimen of control group in correction of skin grease content.3.Safety results: 1 case of mild gastrointestinal reaction occurs in the control group during treatment, and the symptom subsides after drug discontinuance. No abnormal vital sign, hepatic function or renal function is detected before and after the treatment.4.No recurrence is noted during 4 weeks of follow-up after taking medication is stopped. Conclusion: Cuocang Decoction boasts good effect in treating acne vulgaris with wind-heat syndrome, with few adverse reactions and low recurrence rate.
