Objective:With the rapid development of civil aviation industry, annual demand for aircrew(aviators, cabin crew members and on-board security officers)and their workload have registered increase.Aircrew staffs suffer from disorder of life resulted by long working hours, night flights, long flights across timezones and lack of family time, which leave them exposed to various factors leading to occupational stress;and long-time occupational stress can developed into professional burnout, incurring a series of physical and mental issues. This study aims at,through investigating and evaluating the level of professional exhaustion of aircrew staffs, revealing relations between occupational stress, job burnout and physiological and mental health, and proposing an early warning mechanism of occupational stress and job burnout specifically for aircrew personnel.Timely interventions are therefore possible to reduce work-related diseases and corporal expenses therefrom, and avoid accidents, staff and economic losses as much as possible.Method:This study samples 405 active working staff from a subsidiary company of one airline in China.387 questionnaires are deemed valid by professional review;valid samples constitute 95.56%of the total selected. The questionnaire of this research is a combination of Occupational Stress Inventory-Revised(OSI-R)and Maslach Burnout Inventory(MBI).Subjects' physiological and biological parameters including BP,BRT,SGPT and SUA are collected.Data are documented using Epidata 3.1 and are analyzed using SPSS 18.0.Data is categorized into groups according to certain standards including subjects' gender, age, length of service, education, aggregated flight time, type of work.Score in occupational stress and professional burnout, and physiological and biochemical parameters are described using mean figures and standard deviation;single-factor variance analysis is made.Partial correlation analysis is conducted between dimensions of occupational stress and physiological/biochemical parameters, between dimensions of occupational stress and professional burnout, and between professional burnout and physiological/biochemical parameters.Items of occupational stress are classified into two groups according to average occupational stress scores;multiple Logistic regression analysis is conducted in those two groups on profession burnout and positive rate difference in three dimensions.Result:1.Cronbach's Alpha of all the questionnaires of occupational stress and job burnout were more than 0.7,which means that the accuracy, stability and consistence of all the questionnaires were valid.2.The demographic characteristic distribution of occupational stress and job burnout in aircrew showed that:(1)The score of RI,VS,PSY,PHS and EE of male were lower than female, the score of RB,RE,SC,RS and RPA are higher than female.(2)The score of RO,R,WE and EE of>30 year-old group was much higher than other groups.(3)The score of RO,WE,PSY,IS,PHS and EE of 5?10 working-year group were much higher than other groups. The score of RI,RB,R,VS of>10 working-year group were higher than other groups. The score of RE,SS and RPA of<5 working-year group were higher than other groups.(4)The score of RO,RI,WE,VS,PSY,IS,PHS,EE and DP of high school(secondary)and following were much higher than other education, the score of RE,SC,SS,RS,RPA of bachelor(college)degree and above were much higher than other education.(5)The score of R of divorced aircrew was higher in the marriage, and married crew in WE and SS,RPA scored higher.(6)Aviation security officer scored higher in RO,RI,RB,WE,VS,PSY,IS,PHS,EE and DP.The pilots scored higher in RE,SC,SS,RS,RPA.(7)The score of RO,RI,RB,R,WE,VS,PSY,IS,EE and DP were higher of>6000 hour-flight,and the 2000?6000 hour-flight aircrew scored higher in PHS.The score of RE,SC,SS,RPA of<2000 hour-flight scored higher.3.The physiological and biochemical indexes in demographic characteristics showed that:(1)HB,RBC,SGPT,SUA,SBP and DBP of male were higher than those of female.(2)HB of 25?30 year-old group was higher than other groups.RBC,SGPT,SUA,SBP and DBP of>30 year-old group were higher than other groups.(3)HB of<5 working-year group is higher than other groups,SGPT and SBP of>10 working-year group were higher than other groups.(4)HB,RBC,SGPT,SUA,SBP and DBP of bachelor(college)degree and above were higher.(5)RBC,SGPT,SUA of married aircrew were higher than spinsterhood's.(6)HB,RBC of pilots were higher,SGPT,SUA,SBP and DBP of aviation security officer were higher.(7)SGPT of 2000?6000 hour-flight was higher, and DBP of>6000 hour-flight was higher.4.Partial correlation analysis between physiological, biochemical characteristics and occupational stress, job burnout showed that RBC was positively related with RA,SGPT and SUA were negatively related with WE,SBP was negatively related with the R.5.The comparison of job burnout of RO,RI,RA,RB,WE,VS,PSY and PHS had statistically significance(P<0.01).RO,RI,RA,RB,positive rate and occupational stress levels showed that job burnout positive rate of different levels WE,VS,PSY,PHS of high level group of job burnout positive rate were higher than those of low level group.Deviding the job burnout into 3 dimensions, compared their positive rate in high and low levels of occupational stress respectively, the results showed that:The EE positive rate of RO,RI,RA,RB,R,WE,VS,PSY,IS,PHS of high level group were higher than the low level group, the EE positive rate of RE,SS,RS of low level group of were higher than high level group.(2)The DP positive rate of RO,RI,RA,RB,R,WE,VS,PSY,IS,PHS of high level group were higher than low level group, the RE,SC,SS,RS of the low level group of DP positive rate were higher.(3)The RPA positive rate of RO,RI,RA,RB,VS,PSY,IS,PHS of high level were higher,SC,SS,RS of low level were higher.6.Multiple Logistic regression analysis of job burnout positive rate in aircrew showed that RO,RI,SS entered the regression equation(P<0.05),all of them were positively related with job burnout positive rate(OR=1.130,P=0.006,OR=1.098,P=0.048,OR=1.070,P=0.019).Deviding the job burnout into 3 dimensions, conducted their positive rate with multiple Logistic regression respectively, the results showed that:(1)RO,RI,PSY were positively related with EE positive rate,SC was negatively related with EE positive rate.(2)RO,RI,RB,PSY were positively related with DP positive rate, and R was negatively related with DP positive rate.(3)SS was positively related with RPA positive rate, and RI was negatively related with RPA positive rate.Conclusion:(1)The situation that job burnout which lead from occupational stress in the aircrew of company was serious.(2)The difference of sex, ages, working years, education, working styles, marriage status and flying time can influence the level of occupational stress and job burnout.(3)Different levels of occupational stress lead to different job burnout positive rate. The higher level of some occupational stress factors were, the higher job burnout positive rate would be.(4)Occupational stress and job burnout can influence some physiological and biochemical indexes, such as BP,HB,RBC,SGPT and SUA,etc.(5)Job burnout positive rate provide scientific basis for evaluating the working status of the labors, which need to do further research to prove it.
