Objective:To evaluate the occupational stress, job burnout and their correlation of oncology nurses, comparing such situations of oncology nurses with other department nurses. Our study to analyze relative influencing factors of job burnout and occupational stress, further to provide scientific evidence to protect the mental health of nurses. Methods:This study was performed on 415 oncology nurses and 410 rehabilitation department nurses randomly from eight grade iii-a hospitals in Shijiazhuang(male nurses was lacking in two groups, thus eliminated gender). After getting the informed consent of the patients and the hospital departments, the questionnaires were delivered and collected.Data were collected using Occupational Stress Inventory-Revised(OSI-R),Maslach Burnout Inventory(MBI)and Normal Situation Questionnaire.Chi-square test was used to compare demographic characteristics between nurses in oncology and other departments;t-test of two samples was used to compare the level of occupational stress and job burnout between two groups;t-test or analysis of variance was used to compare occupational stress and job burnout in different demographic characteristics;Partial correlation was used to analyze the relationship between occupational stress and job burnout;internal relations among job burnout and occupational stress was identified with multiple stepwise regression, with job burnout as dependent variables, occupational stress and demographic characteristics as independent variables.Results:1 Differences of demographic characteristics between two groups. There were no statistical differences on gender distinction, age distribution, marital status, educational background and professional title between two groups(P>0.05).2 There were no statistical differences on the total score of ORQ between two groups, but higher score of RO was observed obviously among oncology nurses compared to rehabilitation department nurse, differences was statistically significant(P<0.001),PE score of oncology nurses were lower than that of rehabilitation department, differences were statistically significant(P<0.001);Total score of PSQ of oncology nurses were higher than that of rehabilitation department and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.001),same tendency occurred in PSY,IS,PHS with statistically significant differences(P<0.001);Total score of PRQ as well as RE,SC,RC of oncology nurses were lower than that of rehabilitation department, all differences were statistically significant(P<0.001).This indicated heavier working load and higher nervous reaction relatively insufficient coping resources among oncology nurses than rehabilitation department.3 The age, education, marital status and professional title effected occupational stress.Score of RO,PE in ?40 years group was higher than >40 years group(P<0.05);score of VS in ?40 years group was higher than >40 years group(P<0.05);score of RE in ?40 years group was higher than >40 years group(P<0.05).Scores of RO,RI and IS in college degree and below college degree group was higher than bachelor degree and above bachelor degree group(P<0.05);score of RE in college degree and below group was higher than bachelor degree and above group(P<0.05).However,score of RC in college degree and below group was lower than bachelor degree and above group(P<0.05).Score of VS in married group was higher than single group(P<0.05),score of RE in married group was lower than single group(P<0.05).Score of RO,RE in primary title group was higher than medium-grade title group(P<0.05),and VS score in primary title group was higher than the other two groups(P<0.05).4 The job burnout conditions between two groups was compared as well.Score of EX,PE(professional efficacy)in oncology nurses group was higher than that of rehabilitation department, and differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),and score of CY in oncology nurses group was lower than that of rehabilitation department, difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).This indicated that severe emotional exhaustion and lower sense of accomplishment company with higher working enthusiasm did excit among oncology nurses. The scores of PE and CY in ?30 years group showed obviously higher than that in other groups(P<0.05).And these two scores also showed hgihger in primary title group than in advanced title groups.5 Correlation analysis was used to describe the relationship between occupational stress level and job burnout which indicated that total scores of ORQ has a positive correlation with EX and CY(P<0.05).RO,RB,R,PE(physical environment),VS,PSY had a positive correlation with EX(P<0.05).RO,RB,PE(physical environment),VS,PSY had a positive correlation with CY(P<0.05).RO,PSY had a positive correlation with PE(professional efficacy)(P<0.05).PE(physical environment)had a negative correlation with PE(professional efficacy)(P<0.05).RE had negative correlation with EX,CY and PE(professional efficacy)(P<0.05).This results suggested nurse burnout is associated with occupational stress level, work load reducing and construction of related resources strengthen can prevent job burnout.6 Multiple stepwise regression analysis was used to analyze the predictive effect of each occupational stress items on each dimension of job burnout, using the three dimensions of job burnout as dependent variable, items of occupational stress as independent variables. Results indicated that RO,PSY have predictive effect on EX and RE has negative prediction;PSY had predictive effect on CY.Conclusion:1 Oncology nurses had higher level of occupational stress and heavier work task than rehabilitation department nurses. They faced more complex interpersonal relationship and higher psychological tension than nurses in rehabilitation department, without appropriate leisure manner and self-care measures to relieve these stress.2 The EX,PE(professional efficacy)of oncology nurses were more diminished than that of rehabilitation department nurses, but oncology nurses were more engaged in their job.The age, level of title was the independent factors.Immature and lower level made stresss stronger.3 There is correlation between occupational stress and job burnout among oncology nurses.Higher the occupational stress level is,stronger the job burnout sense can be.Appropriate leisure manner,self-care measures, access to social support and ability improvement of rational thinking can reduce occupational stress and job burnout.
