Research On The Design Of Residential Space Adapting To Children’s Growth

The core of architecture is respect and care for people,which should fully reflect the idea of "People Foremost" and focus on "people" including all human beings and the process of the whole life.Rapoport once pointed out in his book,"Housing form and culture" that we can divide the building into two categories,which are attributed to the magnificent design tradition and to the folk tradition and that city space can be divided into memorial space and living space.Nowadays,facing with the coming of the new century,a new social form has gradually been showing up.So study on the problem what kind of model our housing construction will develop into is helpful for us to recognize the track of the present housing development.As is known to all,the crazy high price of housing in China stems from the high demand for housing of the huge population of Chinese.China’s urban housing construction has entered into a new stage,where housing has turned from "subsistence" to "well～off",from"quantity～based" to“quality～based",from "distributive" to "commercial”.Based on the viewpoint of sustainable living adaptability and Chinese families’ housing demand during the parenting period in the life cycle,this article has put forward some basic views about the adaptability of children’ activity space during their parenting period and discussed how to inject new design in residential space to accommodate children’s growth.Therefore,this article is divided into three parts,focused on children’ grow～up features among different age and children’ main activity space in housing.Part one mainly illustrates the importance of this study,clarifies the range of the object studied,analyzes the total trend of the development of present city housing and related studies home and abroad,also confirm the research method and the implementation of the framework.It also discusses the theoretical study related to children’ grow～up features during different phases,analyzes the study of children’ development on physiology,psychology,behavior and cognition,and raises the problem existing in the residential space where children act.Part two mainly analyzes the publicity and privacy in children’ activity space in housing,focuses on children’s growing demand for different activity space in residential space,and concludes the features of residential space on changeability,adaptability,and developable capacity,which aimed at finding the design strategies of residential space adaptive to children’s grow～up need,providing a reference for the innovation of the residential space and scientific basis of creating a living condition to accommodate children’s grow～up.Based on analysis of the above research,part three attempts to apply strategies studied before to housing projects so as to test how to adjust space and furniture design to children’ s grow～up,and to facilitate the substantial development of residential space design,hoping this article could provide references for later space design study.
