China's highly increasing income and consumption level results in a rapid expansion of the auto market,the China's auto market is now in a fully competitive situation.The consumers getting younger has became a growing trend in the auto market,the ‘90s' generation will soon become the main consumer,and their way of life is very different from the previous generation.The ‘90s' generation have their new needs and aesthetic,relying only on price and technical indicators are not attractive to them anymore,car design needs more attention to the needs of new users to meet the consumer's physical and psychological feelings,stay in line with the consumer's Lifestyle,and provide a more fresh and enjoyable experience.To achieve such a goal,we must take the user as the core,all design works start from the user's point of view,to complete a better design work.This research focuses on the combination of user life style research and passenger car design,and explores the application of life style research as a design assistant in specific product design.Through the life style research to classify the target user groups,and intuitively show the life style characteristics and the demand characteristics of the designers' various sub-groups,so that the designers can clearly confirm the demand of design object.In the design process designer can use a whole thinking process,reducing the incoherence and inaccuracy between target product and target user.This paper begins with the analysis of life style theory,understands the basic content of the development of life style theory,and chooses the appropriate life style structure and investigation method for the subsequent investigation work.And then through the access to literature and observation,I analysis passenger car development process and the development of life styles the China's ‘90s' generation urban youth in recent years,in order to determine the specific investigation content later.Based on the analysis of the first two parts,I chose AIO structure as my basic structure to create a questionnaire to investigate the life style and passenger car demand of the ‘90s' urban youth.After fully recover of the questionnaires,I used SPSS software to analyze the results of the survey,and obtained four subgroup,respectively: Rigorous efforts type;High quality living type;Follow the popular type;Avant-garde creation type.And then cross-matched to get the characteristics of each group of vehicle demand and vehicle design requirements.Chose the most typical ‘Rigorous effort' type as the representative of the ‘90s' urban youth user,then proceed in-depth analysis.In-depth interviews were used as access to the user's deep-seated needs,combined with the Life style questionnaire survey data,I have the user's detailed characteristics of life style and demand information.Combined with passenger car design elements,transfer life style and demand information to passenger car design trends,finally created a complete passenger car design trends of the ‘90s' urban youth.At last,a virtual character is established according to the life style of the typical group,and the initial conceptual design of a passenger car is carried out in the direction of the design trend in order to make practical use and verification of the research conclusion.
