Research On Catholic Church Of Central Region Of Shandong Province In Modern Times

In this paper, Catholic Churches built in modern times will be the research objective. The first part is the basic research, there will be two parts. 1. The background of the construction will be combed, focusing on the changes of the city gradual expansion of the church forces,the local anti-religion movements and the development of modern architecture after the Opium War. Referencing to time division scheme in modern architectural history in China,this paper will research on the spread of Catholicism in the central area of Shandong province in different stages of times, showing the development of the Catholicism and the way Catholic Church use in the spread of Catholicism. At the same time, important churches in this area will be calculated, the location characteristics will be described. 2. There will be the study of the evolution process. According to the different situation of the church construction, the time will be divided into: the initial period, the development period and the integration period. The paper describes the building techniques of churches, which is in support of field research and mapping cases.The second part is the analysis of architectural characteristics, researching on the internal space layout, scale and sequence, composition of facade, technology and building details,showing how the regional culture acts on the church buildings.The third part explores the value of modern Catholic churches, which includes the following two parts: the reflection of Chinese and Western architectural culture communication and its important role in pushing forward the development of the modern city and building the China. At the same time, according to the specific construction techniques of the development of the modern Catholic churches , the paper will discusses the inspiration for the contemporary church building design: continuation and innovation of the religious atmosphere of the church architecture, the interpretation of traditional church symbols in contemporary church buildings, the architectural design combined with regional architectural culture.
