The modern life in the concrete jungle and the high-speed development of the city have made the idyllic move away from us,the negative impact of industrialization has become increasingly prominent.Crowded cities,people's accelerated pace of life,the doubled pressure,the residents suffer from different levels of "urban disease",but the city park is a way of decongestion of urban life's negative impact on people like a "good medicine." But in our daily life,city parks tend to be large,comprehensive services for people in the whole city,inconvenient to reach,for a wide range of people.According to research statistics,the US pocket park Perret Park receives 128 tourists per square meter,per year,far more than the famous Central Park in New York.In terms of accessibility and way of travel and other considerations,large parks are more suitable for weekend,holiday activities,and small leisure parks which are easy to find and easy to reach are what people really need in their daily lives.Urban pocket parks came into being at the right moment,it's tiny,easy to reach,close to our daily life,and it has become an important place to meet the high-density urban recreation needs.Residential area edge space is located in residential areas within the red line,but out of the residential area,Or the transitional zone between the spatial functions of the residential area,which has a certain spatial scope and width.It plays a role of integrating all kinds of spaces,lands and activities,and forming an effective transition.Although the marginal space in the residential area is located in the blurred area where the functional blocks overlap,it is even often neglected in the daily life by the residents and has a extremely low utilization rate.However,after being planning and utilization,it can be used as an important area to meet the residents' demand and improve the residence quality,its value and function can not be ignored.At present,the problem of traffic jam,environmental pollution and unbalanced public service resources is becoming more and more prominent as the "enclosure" phenomenon of large enclosed residential areas in China.These cities problems and social contradictions need to be solved urgently.In the new policy <Several Suggestions on Further Strengthening the Urban Planning and Construction Management>,the nation proposes a new concept of open management and block system in residential areas,trying to solve the problem of "urban disease" in our country.Now,the construction of the open residential area and the block system reform of existing residential district has been put on the agenda.Based on the new idea of residential area open management and from the perspective of upgrading the edge space in residential area,this paper summarizes the domestic and foreign research on edge space,and analyzes the characteristics and the main forms of the edge space in residential area from the aspects of land use,topography,the form and occurrence way of edge space.Based on the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the enclosed residential area and the open residential area,the paper gets a conclusion of the implementation of the open area management and the block system reform is indispensable.Based on the comprehensive investigation of the three typical residential areas in different construction periods,this paper summarizes the characteristics of edge space in different residential areas from the aspects of formation reason,existing form,utilization status,residents' behavior characteristics and typical residence contradiction,and proposes the corresponding forms and strategies for utilization of edge space under the open management mode of residential area.The paper analyzes the similarity,difference and continuity of the edge space in different residential areas,and sums up the evolution law of the marginalization tendency of the residential area with the passage of time.In the process of the promotion of block system,the breakage of the existing "fence" is bound to bring discomfort to the inhabitants' living,and the effective use of the edge space in the residential area can alleviate the "labor pains" brought byreform,and then finding the junction point between open management and the transformation and utilization of edge space in residential areas.In this paper,the innovation theory and frontier viewpoints of the utilization of edge space in residential area are summarized effectively,and the innovative ideas of utilization of the edge space are put forward in combination with the open management concept of the.By the typical representative of Luxin Changchun residential area in Qingdao for example,according to the survey results and test data,on the basis of actual living demand of residents' from the feedback of Questionnaire investigation,the paper puts forward a detailed reform plan for the edge space caused by the wall around the residential area,in the construction land,public green space,road and square land,in order to transformation and utilization the edge space in residential area.
