The world adopt methods of new principles, new materials, new structures,generally enhanced the tank armor’s protection capability, in particular ERA technology is widely used, greatly enhanced tank’s defense capability. Tanks have become good-protection, fire-powered, high-speed, high-mobility’s mobile fortress, which to the traditional anti-armor ammunitions is a severe test.This article first introduced the current situation and development trend of ERP, and using the methods of combining theoretical guidance and AUTODYN-3D numerical simulation software. cube, sphere-shaped tungsten alloy, steel hits block impacting ERA’s response characteristics and impacting speed varying with the size and angle was studied, The research showed that:(1) The small hits block detonating charge within the ERA is not only related with the penetrating panel invasing internal charge and continuously compressing and frictioning charge, but also with the head’s shape, the impacting speed, the duration of action, etc. when the small hits block penetrates the panel.(2) When the hits block impacts the ERA at a slight angle(≤40 °), the destruction of small hits block is lesser, with less resistance and friction by ERA, residual speed is large, so the remaining kinetic energy is large after penetrating the panel,Therefore, a lower speed can detonate the ERA; when the hits block impacts the ERA with a high-speed at a large angle(> 40 °), due to the interaction of the hits block with the high-strength panel, leading hits block’s serious erosion and fracture, a larger penetration resistance by ERA and a larger frictional resistance by panel, when the small hits block is unable to penetrate the panel and contact the ERA charge, the small hits block will have broken seriously, the only way is to impact the panel and generate a strong shock wave in order to transmiss into explosives by increasing speed,detonating the ERA explosives.(3) Mastering the basic law that the small hits block’s impacting speed threshold decreases with the size increasing and increases with the impacting angle increaseing, obtaining the speed threshold when detonating the ERA, and fitting the corresponding speed threshold curve. |
