The sandification area of northern Shanxi province is located in the transitional zone of pastures and farmlands of the Loess Plateau of China,influenced by natural factors and human activities in long term,leading to dramatic changes of the land use,unreasonable spatial configuration of the landscape pattern,etc.Since landscape pattern changes react upon regional environment,its analysis is of great help in researching landscape pattern and the ecological environment changes to reveal the relationship between landscape pattern and ecological processes so as to realize the sustainable development of regional environment.This study took landscape ecology as the main theoretical basis,supported by GIS and RS.The landscape pattern in the sandification area of northern Shanxi province,as well as spatial and temporal variation characteristics was studied through quantitative calculation and qualitative analysis.The Logistic regression model for drive factors and the landscape types was to predict the landscape pattern evolution trend of the sandification area in northern Shanxi under different scenarios.On this basis,by using the theory of landscape ecology and sustainable development,effective foundation was provided for landscape optimal allocation of study area and land use planning to reduce the potential risks in the future development.This research showed that:(1)The land use and landscape pattern types in the sandification area of northern Shanxi are mainly cultivated land,woodland and grassland,the cultivated land widely distributed in the whole study area,the area of cultivated land was declining from 2000 to 2010.There is a distribution differences in land use and landscape pattern of study area respectively in loess hilly-gully region of northern Shanxi,Datong basin plain area,mountHeng and Wutai mountain region that objectively reflected differences of landscape pattern among regions caused by natural conditions and social economic conditions to provide the corresponding reference for land use and landscape pattern zoning as well as land use zoning in its overall planning.(2)The analysis of landscape pattern change in path type level shows that the cultivated land took the majority,and the LPI of the cultivated land showed a decreasing trend.It indicates that heterogeneity degree of landscape has increased.The total number of patches in the study area reduced,the distribution is getting centralized,and the degree of landscape fragmentation is decreased.During the study period,compared with other landscapes,the woodland landscape type is more complex.The LSI of cultivated land,grassland,and woodland are all in decline,and the patch shapes are getting complex.(3)The analysis of landscape pattern change in landscape level shows that the distribution is getting centralized,the degree of landscape fragmentation decreased,the degree of connectivity increased.Landscape diversity levels has raised and the heterogeneity degree was improved,Meanwhile,landscape types transferred from simple to multiple type,having a tendency of stable development.As a result,the landscape integral aggregation degree and contagion rose up and the spatial relations between patches ware aggregating.(4)Based on CLUE-S model,we simulated land use and landscape pattern in 2010 with that in 2000.The coefficient was 0.9244,which has been validated by Kappa.The simulation effect was so excellent to prove that CLUE-S model could simulate land use and landscape pattern well in the arid area of northern Shanxi.(5)Taking the data of land use and landscape pattern in 2010 as the initial data,under the natural development scene,coordination developmentsituation and economic development scene,we simulated the change of land use and landscape pattern in northern Shanxi in 2020.The results suggested that the three simulated scenarios of land use and landscape pattern in space,there is a big difference.At the same time,put forward some suggestions and solutions in the sandification area of northern Shanxi province with the existed problems of environment.
