Study On Chen Xuerong's Practice And Activity In Meteorology

Several generations of meteorologists have made great efforts to the rapid development of China's meteorological undertakings during the last century and one of them is Chen Xuerong (1916-2016), who was born in Nanjing, Jiangsu and has made great contributions to the meteorological progress in New China.Meteorological practice activities developed by Chen Xuerong during his whole life include meteorological science research activities, meteorological exchange activities and meteorological education activities, each of which has greatly promoted China's meteorological undertakings.Based on the analysis of atmospheric phenomena, meteorological history compilation and correction, meteorological education activities, and meteorological exchange activities between the mainland and Taiwan,this paper mainly explores Chen Xuerong's meteorological practice activities, systematically summarizes the social background and personal background of the above three meteorological practices and analyzes their characteristics. In Chen Xuerong's meteorological science research activities, scientific researches conducted by the research team promote the research levelin meteorology, his concern for both the natural sciences and the history of science and technology research, and his collection of historical data of meteorology help us reproduce history and provide a basis for future research.In the meteorological education activities, he adheres to the combination of theory and practice, the combination of work and teaching and personally guides and leads students to conduct meteorological practices in Guangxi. Chen Xuerong's "learn, so as to instruct others; act, to serve as example to all" noble morality has trained a lot of meteorological talents, playing a leading role in promoting the sustainable development of China's meteorological undertakings. In the meteorological exchange activities, he focuses on correspondence and meeting exchanges that provide first-hand information for the meteorological history research, and meteorological exchanges in different areas that highlight the long history, inter-discipline and far-reaching significance of meteorology.It can be concluded through Chen Xuerong's meteorological practice activities that the success of scientists is no accident, and the subtle influences of important characters in the same period can not be ignored. In addition, Chen Xuerong's meteorological practice activities, on the one hand, greatly deepen the meteorological science researches in China as he once made the scientific interpretation on his observation of "brocken spectre" at the top of Mount Taishan and published his research in professional journals, leading a wave of meteorology research; on the other hand, these activities promote the research on modern meteorological history in China as he once revised several sets of meteorology monographs, took the initiative to do the meteorology compilation after retirement, assisted the compilation of record book, proofread Zhu Kezhen Biography, emphasized the authority and correctness of meteorological history, and conducted the meteorological exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan.
