The express delivery industry is the product of China’s reform and opening up. In late 1980 s and early 1990 s, China’s cheap labor, huge market and the introduction of export policies for enterprises in the country drew large number of foreign trade companies into our country, making the need of China’s international express business a rapid growth. In recent years, as China’s rapid economic development and upgrading of industrial structure, especially the booming of e-commerce and online shopping, Chinese domestic express delivery industry also won a good opportunity of rapid development.According to the national postal sector statistics, by the end of 2012, China’s domestic express business had delivered 5.7 billion packages, with an increase of 55% and the revenue reached 106 billion Yuan with an increase of 40%.The domestic delivering market had shown a trend of diversified development.Yun Da Express was founded in August 1999, is a subsidiary of China Railway Express. After ten years of development, Yun Da Express has more than ten thousand employees, more than seventy transit center, four thousand service points covering the whole of China. On April 20, 2012, Yun Da Express was granted the honorary title of 2011 advanced postal industry statistics enterprises by the State Post Bureau of Transportation. In June and November 2014, Yun Da Express were set up in Los Angeles and Seattle, Hesse State in Germany express logistics service center accordingly.With the rapid development of express delivery industry, Yun Da Express has also kept growing and innovating, but with international express delivery giants moving in to our domestic market(2013 UPS and Fedex have access to the domestic express business license) and state-owned enterprises rapid development with strong government background, policy supports, and extensive service delivery network, and other private express companies expanding their business, the domestic express delivery market is facing re-shuffle. Yun Da Express, in the face of such fierce competition, need to further refine its own characteristics, to find its own shortcomings and to decide its development strategy.The aim of this article is to make an analysis and research on Yun Da Express’ development strategy. The whole article can roughly be divided into three parts. Firstly, the basic theory of enterprise strategic management; secondly the analysis of the company’s external environment and internal environment; thirdly, through SWOT matrix to determine which strategy can best suit the company and give specific strategic plans.
