Research On The Old-age Service Industry Development Based On The Background Of Aging Population

By the end of 2014, the population of the aged whose age is 60 years old and beyond has broken through 212 million, about 15.5 percent of the total population in China. There is 1.1265 million of 60-year-old and beyond people in Hunan province as one of a province which has the largest population in China, and it is 16.7 percent of inhabitants in Hunan. In Hunan, the rate of bringing up the old man is over the average in whole country, and the aging become serious. Social problems causing by the aging give rise to the difference demand in elderly services cannot be satisfied in traditional families, so it becomes significant choice to develop the pension service industry.The old-age service industry concludes the community home elderly services and institutions elderly services. In this thesis, the two kinds of pension services, community home elderly services and institutions elderly services, will be analyzed separately. Take Hunan province as a great example. This thesis analyzes recent development and shortage of community home elderly services and institution elderly services on the supply and demands and also provides some advices. By using the data from questionnaires in Hunan, this paper analyzes the factors influencing the demands of community home elderly services and the service projects provided by the community. Based on the concepts of demands and the subjects of supply, this paper also analyzes the supply and demands on the development of institution elderly services separately.Based on the research result of this paper, the important factors which infuence on the development of the community home elderly services are the factor of will, the factor of individuality and the factor of family, especially the degree of satisfactory, age and marriage as the most important factors. And the obvious factors affecting the supply development of the community home elderly services are the healthy care, clothes, finance and pyschological consult. With the increasing number of the elder population, the enhancing will of the demand on institutions elderly services, and the improving purchasing power, the demand of institutions elderly services by the old is increasing. However, recently some causes, such as a lack of the old-age service built by society, the elementary facilities of olg-age care institutiongs without good quality, the limites amout of beds supplied by old-age care institutions and the weak quality of workers in this industry, lead to the difference between the demand and the supply of institutions elderly services.Based on researches from no matter micro survey data or the macro data in Hunan province, nowadays the supply and demands development of community home elderly services and institution elderly services is not balanced so that the supply of elderly services cannot catch the rapidly pace of increasing demands of the aging. As aging population degree is deepening, the aged requires increasingly higher demands and quality of elderly services. As a populous nation, the problem of Chinese aging becomes a significant populous problem and a social problem recently.
