Energy is vital to the material basis for the survival and development for any country, there for concerned greatly and comprehensively by all countries. Over the past 30 years, the GDP has increased rapidly in our country, but the consumption for energy is becoming bigger, to some extent even bigger than the developed countries. What’s worse, energy gap between the supply and the demand is increasing, which will become the stumbling block of the road to economic development of high quality and efficiency. In addition, there is a large gap in energy efficiency among eastern, the central and the west regions in our country, so it is necessary to make a different research for targeted areas. Based on the above consideration, this article takes the regional difference as the main line. First of all, with the index of energy efficiency, we set up a panel data model about 30 provinces in China, taking into consideration these factors of industrial structure, energy structure, economic level, import and export trade and others. Then, we make an empirical analysis of the eastern, the central and the western respectively, concluded the concerned factors influenced the regional energy. The result suggests that the eastern region has the highest energy efficiency, the central secondly, and the western lowest. For the eastern region, the proportion of second and third industry and economic levels make a big contribution for its high energy efficiency; for the Midwest, the second proportion of industry, energy structure and economic level are the main factors that influence energy efficiency significantly.Through the above analysis, in order to improve energy efficiency:the eastern region has to optimize industrial structure, vigorously develop low energy consumption but high value-added industries, develop service industry and high-tech industry, make full use of geographical advantages, and expand the scope of foreign trade; the central region should control the scale of the industry and construction of high energy consumption, to achieve the purpose of energy conservation; in the western region, it should make full use of local resources and vigorously develop industries that is high value-added but energy consumption is very low such as tourism and border trading in services, striving to form the pillar industry of local characteristic... |
