Investigation Of Beef Cattle Breeding In Henan Province

Currently, the number of foundation cows dropped seriously, and the calves and steers also face severe shortages. The cattle breeding status in the southwest, west and east area of Henan Province were investigated by the way of the admission questionnaire and field observation, and several problems were summarized:1. the operating time of the cattle breeding farm is short; the running experience is lacking and the business philosophy is outdate.2. the pedigree of the cattle in the breeding farm is unclear, the hybridization is disordered and the heterosis recesses.3. the educational background of the responsible person and the technician are low; the technician is short and the labor age is older.4. the technical training is too simple, and the training effect is not ideal.5. The application of the reproduction technique is limited, and the average breeding survival rate is low. The average breeding survival rate in the southwest, east area and west area of Henan Province is 66%, 63%, 60.2%, respectively, with no statistical difference between each other(P>0.05).According to the problems in the cattle breeding farms in Henan Province, several recommendations were summarized:1. improve the management level by implementing the herd turnover plan and application of the reproductive technologies.2. supply more technical trainings for the technicians, and reduce the animal keepers by using the TMR to improve the feeding efficiency.3. the decision-making, planning, organizing, directing, supervising and regulating functions of the management should be improved to guarantee the execution efficiency.In order to improve the reproductive efficiency of beef cattle breeding farm, an objective functional model regarding to improve the breeding survival rate of beef cattle breeding was constructed, it may give references for other beef cattle breeding enterprise.
