Parent-child tour is a new way of tourism with good prospects and large market potentials for development. However, parent-child tour is at its early stage of development. Researches on parent-child tour and its products were rare. Theme park is a recent form of tourist destination with particular themes. Theme parks in China or aboard are numerous forcing fierce competitions. Since tourists of theme parks are mainly teenagers, young men and middle-aged people, the introduction and development of parent-child tour can provide more elements and attract more customers to theme park. The study focused on the research of the development of parent-child tour in the Changsha Window of the World. The necessary and feasibility of parent-child travel in Changsha Window of the World was analyzed by the investigation of the questionnaire surveys of the tourism consumption psychology in the Changsha-zhuzhou-xiangtan area and the satisfaction of tourists in the Changsha Window of the World. The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats were analyzed to discuss the feasible ways to develop parent-child tour in the Changsha Window of the World.Firstly, it’s necessary to develop parent-child tour in the Changsha Window of the World. The theme of the Changsha Window of the World is not as attractive as other theme parks. The competitions both inside and outside Hunan province are fierce which lead to the management and development difficulties of the Changsha Window of the World. The development of parent-child tour is a feasible way for the Changsha Window of the World to build a more attractive theme and help it to stand out from the fierce competition.Secondly, the development of parent-child tour in the Changsha Window of the World is feasible. The good location, large potential customer groups and internal resources of the Changsha Window of the World provide basic conditions for developing parent-child tour. The policies of the advocate of national leisure tourism, the innovation and upgrade of Hunan tourism, the youth quality education in an all-round way and the ease of student burden provide strong policy insurances. The national consciousness and increasing demand of parent-child tour provide good opportunities.The analysis of questionnaire surveys showed that different demands and favors of parent-child tour products of different-aged customers should be considered in the developing of the parent-child tour in the Changsha Window of the World. Accurate amusement programs and facilities should be renewed and developed to fit the different demands and favors of different-aged customers. Meanwhile, specific ways to rebuild the tourism image, regenerate the marketing strategies, enhance the corporation of adjacent scenic spots and tourism intermediates were proposed.
