| As authorized by The Federal Government of Nigeria, Lekki Free Zone Development Company was established to develop and operate Lekki Free Zone. The company was co-founded by China-Africa Lekki Investment Company, Lagos State Government and Lekki World Wide Investment Company. Meanwhile, China-Africa Lekki Investment is a consortium with CRCC as its biggest shareholder. Lekki Free Zone lies in the southeast of Lagos State and is 50 kilometers away from the downtown. With the Atlantic on its south and Lagoon on its north, Lekki Free Zone has very beautiful scenery and owns 5 kilometers seashore line. Its total size of 30 Sq kilometers makes the zone even bigger than Macao. It is also the biggest among China’s 19 oversea economic cooperation zones.The text put a deep research on this project from various aspects like: the background of the project, the management structure, project planning, current situation, advantages and disadvantages of the zone and challenges that the zone faces etc. According to his own work experience in the zone and the practical situation, the author pointed out that the developers should put emphasis both on developing the zone and earning profit for its shareholders, that the developers should put creating jobs for Nigeria, promoting the economy develop and accumulating overseas experience and training talents on the same position. Based on the current situation that the local infrastructure is poor and the company both limits in funds and experience, the author pointed out that the developers should draw a more thoughtful development schedule and develop phase by phase to ensure a consistent development of the zone. It is also suggested that the existing overall plan of the zone should be carefully reviewed in accordance with the change of the whole environment.The author also believes that a credit third part should be introduced into the company to provide more resources and help reduce the risks of the investment. |
