In recent years, the medical equipment manufacturing industry of China develops rapidly, and received more attention by the government, social capital and social public. With the publication of a series of relevant policies and regulations in 2014,the medical equipment manufacturing enterprises will meet more opportunities and challenges in the future. Although our local medical equipment manufacturing industry has a high growth rate in the last years,there are rarely enterprises with a large sale scale, the ability of continuous research and innovation and strong competitiveness in the international market. Therefore, this paper builds up a systematic analytical framework for medical equipment manufacturing enterprises to help them monitoring the competitive environment from the perspective of competitive intelligence, analyzes the potential factors that affect the competitiveness, and makes competition strategy, in order to improve the competitive position of these enterprises in the market.Through the review and summary of the existing research results both at home and abroad in the field of competitive intelligence, we found that the specific comprehensive analysis framework of competitive intelligence and its further application for the medical equipment manufacturing industry is still lack of investigation. This study based on several theories in the field of competitive intelligence including game theory, SWOT analysis theory, value chain theory, enterprises core competitiveness theory, enterprise dynamic capability theory and so on, integrated the most useful tools of competitive intelligence analysis, combined the specific characteristics of medical equipment manufacturing industry, and established a comprehensive competitive intelligence analysis framework for the medical device manufacturing enterprise under the guidance of objectives and principles. This framework includes three modules which are external environment analysis, internal environment and competitor analysis module, strategy making module, and a series of segments. Finally, on the basis of the data and facts we collected, this study apply the framework we constructed to one particular medical device manufacturing enterprise, and then developed the intensive development strategy and the differentiated competitive strategy for this enterprise. By doing this, the feasibility and utility of this comprehensive competitive intelligence analysis framework have been verified.The contributions of this study can be listed as follows:Firstly, this study selected a popular industry in recent years--the medical instrument manufacturing industry as the research object,and it has a certain creativity to builds a comprehensive competitive intelligence analytical framework for the medical instrument manufacturing industry and apply it to a particular company based on the factors of situation and data we collected. Secondly, this study combines the methods in the field of competitive intelligence and a large number of facts and data, uses a various of related theories and tools to construct a comprehensive competitive intelligence analytical framework, then makes the abstract concepts in the framework more specific by apply it to one particular company, so that the utility and value of this framework have been verified. From this perspective, this study has a certain practical significance and application value.
