Tianjin Lvhai agriculture trade limited liability company (hereafter refers to as Tianjin Green Sea Company) is jointly funded by Hainan State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Committee and Hainan Agriculture and Reclamation Group Limited Company in accordance with "Company Law of the People’s Republic of China".The company is mainly engaged in fruits, vegetables, flowers, grains, aquatic products, tea,oil, pepper and other agricultural acquisition, refrigerated processing, packaging, storage, sale and warehousing services (except for dangerous goods).To solve the transportation problem for the island agricultural products, to meet the demand for agricultural products of Bohai economic circle, and to achieve the company’s survival, development and profitability, the company invested286million yuan to establish the Tianjin Bohai Sea tropical (Hainan) agricultural trade logistics center (hereinafter referred to as the center) in the north of Wuqing District. The center mainly focuses on agricultural products cold chain logistics management. The center covers an area of227.1acres with64,207square meters for buildings and28,033square meters for parking,which provides300berths for container trailer.According to the center’s actual operation situation, the trading volume, turnover and investment returns are not satisfying. As the main person in charge,the author should hold the responsible to face and solve the problem, for the early realization of a predetermined management objectives. This paper takes " The study of Tianjin Green Sea agricultural products’problems and solutions of the cold chain logistics management " as the title. Based on the theories of modern logistics management, agricultural logistics management, cold chain container management and human resources management, this paper adopts systematic analysis,case study, comparative analysis and empirical research, and integrates theory with practice to conduct the relative research. Firstly, the problems in cold chain logistics management of the Tianjin Green Sea should be analyzed. The cold-chain transport system management, warehouse management, container management, object management, cold chain logistics team and other thematic analysis of specific issues will be detailed analyzed in order to understand the problem, reveal the essence, analyze the impact and identify the cause of the problem.Then, the comparative analysis about the domestic and internatio nal cold chain logistics management cases will be conducted.Finally, based on the analysis of correspond problems that exist in the cold chain logistics management,the responsive strategies will be put forward in order to achieve effective implementation.This report not only focuses on the theoretical improvement of the author himself, but also aims at applying research results into enterprise actual practice to enhance the central cold chain logistics management, and improve management efficiency and effectiveness. This paper is divided into five parts.The first chapter is introduction.This chapter introduces the research background, including the basic information of Green Sea Company, the profiles of the center, and cold chain logistics and related concepts.This chapter also elaborates the significance of research of cold chain logistics management.Then,this part will explain research purpose and significance, the theoretical basis and main methods,and the basic ideas and logical structure of the paper..The second chapter introduces the managemental problems since the center has officially opened,such as low trading volume,high costs and losses,which are mainly caused by management issues of cold chain transportation system,cold chain container management,cold chain storage management,cold chain logistics object management and team management. And the general analysis lays firm foundation for further study.At present, the company mainly adopts cold chain shipping with the cold chain cold chain road transport as the supplement in this chapter,the author conducts respectively systematic analysis about road, rail, sea cold chain transportation management, and carries out horizontal comparison. Railway requires the use of special container wagon and less time.Road transport holds more flexibility and high costs. Shipping transport demands long time span and low cost,but it would be affected by climate (except strong typhoon).The company’s current management of cold chain transport system needs to be optimized.Thirdly, based on the exposed problems of traditional and modern container warehouse management, the author conducts detailed research and comparative analysis. The company uses refrigerated container to store all the agricultural products.Although transportation of agricultural products could be simplified and the consequent loss would be reduced,there are new problems like inaccurate temperature control and high costs compared with the traditional cold storage.Fourthly, this paper considers the problem caused by the single cold chain containers.The company uses standardized container,which is not conducive to transportation with many varieties of agricultural products and different delivery regions.Fifth, the cold chain logistics objects management problems are analyzed, including general analysis of cold chain logistics objects, cold chain logistics production, transportation and marketing disconnect problem. In the early stage,the company chooses Hainan fruits and vegetables (mainly bananas) as the main operating target.Based on market sales forecasts,the company makes planned purchases schedules.But the uncertainties of shipment lead to stockpiling of the company’s container at FOB port,and all products reaching Hong Kong at the same time also cause the increased inventories,decreased quality of agricultural products,or even damage, affecting even FCL bulk commodity sales prices.Finally, the team problems of the company’s cold chain logistics management are analyzed, revealing the problems in team leader construction, team building and overall team polishment.The third chapter focuses on the domestic and international cold chain logistics management case analysis.the analysis about Chongqing cold chain land transport and Haikou cold chain marine transport may reveal some useful tips.(l)The cold chain logistics is a very complex operation system,requiring adequate analysis,as well as the scientific,and professional planning and design.(2) The enterprises engaged in cold transport logistics should focus on cold chain coordination between upstream and downstream to establish long-term strategic partnership to jointly improve all aspects of cold chain transportation.(3) To strengthen the training of professionals for logistics and internal management of enterprise is very important.This chapter aims at solving problems of Tianjin Green Sea Company in cold chain logistics managementAt first,this chapter comprehensively digs out the causes of the existed problems,and the author holds that the systematic project should be carried out with balanced arrangement and clear priority. Based on in-depth study and the domestic and international experience of cold chain logistics company,this paper proposes the following specific measures to solve the problems.First, the measures to solve the problem of cold chain transportation system management are formulated as following:(1)Maritime transport should be considered as the main transport means,which could ensure the quality of agricultural products and reduce transportation costs under the premise of reducing agricultural losses.(2)The company should strengthen the cooperation in acquisition, board, transportation, berthing and delivery,which could simplify the procedures to reduce the transport time of the products.(3)The company should adopt the multiple transportation means,taking advantage of inland transport’s low cost and less time-consumption as the effective complement for the company’s cold chain transportation.Secondly,this paper also puts forward measures to solve the problem of cold chain warehouse management.,The resources of the logistics park should be fully integrated.The large-scale logistics park could be considered as the long-term cold storage warehouse of agricultural productsin order to reduce power costs caused by long-term use of refrigerated container.Besides,the quality decline or cargo damage caused by the suddern changes in temperature could be effectively avoided.Hence,the company could save a large amount of operating cost.Thirdly, the paper puts forward some measures to solve the problem of cold chain container management. The company should adopt a conbination of a variety of cold chain containers with full considerations of different temperature standards, different loading capacity and different models of refrigerated containers to optimize the conbination of containers.So,according to different situation,the company could choose the most appropriate and most cost-effective containers. Fourth, the strategies to solve the problem of cold chain logistics management are as follows:Because the agricultural products can not be stored for long period, the company should choose fresh varieties of agricultural products with long-time storage for operating test,(in the restricted circumstances of size pre-operating and storage conditions, the company should manage to choose agricultural products whose storage time can last for more than15days) so that the company can gain experiences, and gradually increase the operating varieties to expand distribution scales.According to the demand of goods dealers, the company could adopts the approach of "one-time purchasing and storage and batch delivery" which could avoid or minimize the price drop excissive storage caused by long-term transport,so the sales income will not be affected.The solution to the team-management problems in cold-chain logistics is as follows:Firstly, it is necessary to strengthen corporate leadership by getting report from provincial agricultural reclamation bureau and by hiring experts in the field. Secondly, experienced employees should be recruited. At last, a high-quality team needs high ethnics and professional skills trainings.Chapter Five is the conclusion.The major contributions of this paper include three aspects. This paper finds out several problems in cold-chain logistics managements of Green Sea Company through systematic analyses of some operational phenomena, such as lack of central business, low trading volume, high cost and big losses. In addition, the present paper learns from abroad and domestic experiences and proposes strategies to the existing problems.Besides, the research of this paper is of great siginifance to enhance the corporate chain logistics management, and improve management efficiency and effectiveness.
