The Competition And Fusion In The “Ecosystem” Of Medium

This paper based on two theory :media technology of Mcluhan and synecology in biology to research the development of media technology,demonstrating the competence and fusion in the process of media technology development at the view of biological community、biology.This research have an new mode of thinking cause there are many researches about the development of media technology, but this paper will explore a new way that use the synecology in biology to research the topic.This paper clarify the characters of different media technology and investigate the development history in the media environment background due to synecology theory’s resource competition relationship and different nature of media. Firstly, we research the medium competence based on the nature that species always compete for limited resources(medium‘s resources are audiences and advertisement).Regard different medium as different species in nature environment can not only clarify the characters of different media technology but also discuss the reason of medium competence and fusion. Secondly,have a further demonstration of competence and fusion 、survival and elimination through investigating the irreplaceable nature and functions of different medium in the media environment. The development history and trend of media technology in this paper’s head and tail, to indicate that the update and development of media technology is the fruit of human’s technical progress. Development of media technology also follow the rule: the fittest will survived.Through these researches this paper’s conclusions are: First, we can have a better explanation for the reason that competence of media technology at the view of synecology. Second, the nature of different media technology will be better manifest through synecology. Third, the competence and fusion 、survival and elimination of media technology will be more clear. Therefore, using the theory synecology can not only research the reason of competence of media technology in a better way, but also manifest the nature of traditional media technology. Besides these, this paper also inference and predicate the trend in development of media technology.
