Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republican Period, With the continuous development of the mass media industry, the quantity of Journalists continued growing. As the social economy and division of labor in society developed, Journalists’group consciousness was strengthened gradually. In order to protect the interests of group, journalists grew an intense desire to build their own organizations. In the 1930s, a large number of Journalists association appeared around the country.Journalists association is the outcome of journalists professionalization. And as the most important journalists’organization form, it promoted journalists professionalization. Journalism in shanghai became the center of Chinese Journalism during the Republic of China. The development of journalists in Shanghai was the leading example of Chinese journalists. A Study based on Journalists’association in Shanghai, will help us understand the way the association pursuit of professionalism by building professional organizations. And it is helpful for us to have an overall understanding of freelancers.The paper discusses from the following aspects:the internal standardization management of Journalists association in Shanghai, improvement of the cohesion of association and Journalists and Safeguarding the rights of Journalists, to investigate the way the association promoted journalists professionalization by enhancing journalists’career identity and building journalists’ professional community. The paper also teases out the association’s development process and all kinds of activities, to analyze the interactive relationship between the association and the government.
