With the great transition of the Chinese social system, the Chinese intellectuals gained the right of independent and voicing views. We always consider that in the early days of the Republic of China, the civil owned the freedom of speech in a higher level than before. This status became a climax of creating newspaper and the development of journalism. At that time, creating newspapers was so easy that any people who wanted to create a newspaper could achieve. Though these types just focus on temporary social effect, the open social values and loose political atmosphere could be expressed. Newspapers and periodicals became a popular way to exchange, voice and counsel. In the unpredictable environment, the press advanced though sometimes it had dilemma. Excellent report men, successful newspapers, these were significant parts in the history of the Republic of China.A newspaper, a journalist, a epoch, the journalist who called Zhang Jiluan had gathered these three features. From late Qing Dynasty to the early days of the Republic of China, even a longer time in the history, Zhang Jiluan had various experience in social status and social roles. He was a radical youth in his early time, then he was a opinion leader when he was in the New Report Cop. of'Da Gong Newspaper', finally he became a elite who was near the central power. The New Report Cop. of'Da Gong Newspaper'shaped a successful journalist called Zhang Jiluan, and Zhang Jiluan made a successful newspaper of New Report Cop. of'Da Gong Newspaper'. From the special perspective of public intercourse, the thesis try to exhibition Zhang Jiluan's various press activities and public intercourse. The thesis falls into four chapters to explore the view of public intercourse of Zhang Jiluan.The first chapter has two key words in order to introduce the historical background. The modern media and the new-typed Chinese intellectuals had interactive influence with the development of social. In the long history of china, modernization was a passive process by the aggression of the western counties. With the change, the modern newspapers were indispensable, they evolved to be a channel and even a fighting weapon against the old social system. The great change had made the new-type intellectuals transformed, and the typical man, like Zhang Jiluan how to express his press thought and to be a public opinion elite.The second chapter focuses on Zhang Jiluan and New Report Cop. of 'Da Gong Newspaper'. From Zhang's early study time, until his variety press activities, what happened to his social roles and social status? As a report man, Zhang came to a big, complex social system, due to his relations between classmates, fellow villagers, government officials. All of these relations interweaving together, made effects to his press activities.The third chapter takes the relations between Zhang Jiluan's public intercourse and the public space based on Da Gong Newspaper. They were mutually existence and promotion. The public space based on Da Gong Newspaper was a containing square that everyone could had his voice. The early time of Zhang Jiluan's activities were just possibilities to the public space, but when the space developed, the public intercourse became necessity. In the rising transition of new-type Chinese intellectual what they did just what they wanted to undertaking, that was social responsibility.Chapter four longitudinally compares the press activities in two different status of Zhang Jiluan when he was a independent journalist and a informal counselor. Due to this, his public intercourse transformed from positive to rationality. Zhang Jiluan insisted on his own political theory when his "political center" theory established. As a active participant at the fringe of central power, but he was a rational libertarian when he closed to the central power. To be independent or not to the central power, that was a problem.The conclusion summarized the thesis. The political atmosphere, journalists professionalization, these helped the press activities in the Republic of China reveal in a dynamic way.
