With the rapid development of communications technology and education information, many schools and colleges have constructed digital campus platforms for teaching practice. Providing learners with a digital learning environment is one of the most important functions of a virtual campus. Virtual learning community is an important form of digital learning environment, and it is a platform for learning exchanges, an environment created by using communications technology on the Internet. In this environment, the user plays a certain role with relevant rights and responsibilities. He performs equal exchanges and cooperative learning on the platform and undertakes knowledge construction with co-learners through learning exchanges and cooperation. In addition, “Involving everyone” and “Sharing and building together” have become the aim of learning resources construction for e-learning communities.This paper gives a profound study on the theoretical knowledge of virtual community and a few problems existing in the practical application of learning community. It puts forward a three-layer structure model of virtual learning community in combination of AJAX, RSS, Tag, Wiki and other related Web2.0 techniques, which is composed of application layer, presentation layer and data layer based on the B/S architecture. The system functions of virtual learning community are developed based on this model and at the same time, relevant concepts and techniques of Web2.0 are applied to the newly designed virtual community. The newly developed application layer is mainly composed of three functions, namely, online course learning sub-system, personalized learning space sub-system and cooperative learning space sub-system. Therefore, the virtual community system platform on the basis of Web2.0 is created. Relevant tests such as functionality, performance and interface of the platform are also carried out. It analyzes and grasps the actual performance of the system platform by simulating real stress test in application environment. The features of this study is the application of relevant concepts and techniques of Web2.0 to the functions of virtual learning community and the personalized learning experience for users based on the creation of cooperative learning of virtual learning community.At the end, this paper presents a few unsolved issues of virtual learning community on the basis of B/S architecture and gives an analysis of future research prospect in this area. The research has accumulated valuable experiences for virtual learning community for providing more services in the future.
