With the wide application of computer technology, the virtual prototype technology obtained very good development. Currently, more and more mechanical products used it to study the dynamic characteristics to conduct the design. However, in the use of ADAMS virtual prototype technology for dynamic simulation, when there were a lot of contacts in the dynamic model, then would often exist the problem that solving for a long time and low efficiency of the simulation, the typical multi-contact system including chain drive system and belt drive system. And for a relatively large machine, the transmission system is just one small part of it, and usually not as the main research object, so it is necessary to research and analyze the multi-contact problem of the transmission system, in order to reduce its dynamics solving time, improve the efficiency of the simulation, thereby to expediently research the more complex mechanical system that contained transmission system. The main contents done of this paper are as follows:1. Introduced the virtual prototype technology and ADAMS simulation software, pointed out that the multi-contact systems existed the problem with low efficiency of simulation solution in the development process, expounded the dynamic of multi-body system and the theory of contact mechanics, studied and summarized the current status of multi-contact issues, then gave the main contents of this article.2. By stating the contact problem and the basic knowledge of dynamic about ADAMS, provided a theoretical basis for the following dynamic simulation and the new simulation method proposed to improve the solution efficiency.3. Introducing the chain multi-contact and analyzed its polygon feature, and the analysis showed that the polygon effect is the important reason of system instability. At the same time, conducted the design of chain drive system, and according to the result used the PRO/E to finish the establishment of the geometric model.4. Compared the method proposed by the past researchers with the general conventional simulation method, came to the conclusion that the simulation efficiency needed to be further improved.5. According to the connection form between the links and the solution about friction in the ADAMS, respectively proposed these two simulation methods that using the flexible coupling force and simplifying the solution about contact force can improve the simulation efficiency. At the same time, compared with the general conventional simulation method, verifying the feasibility of these two methods from the simulation accuracy and solution time.6. For further research the applicability of using the flexible coupling force and simplifying the solution about contact force these two simulation methods, which combining the two methods to undergo the simulation of another multi contact system.7. Summarized the results of this paper in the aspect of improving the simulation efficiency about the multi-contact system, and indicated the existence of shortcomings to guide for the research direction on the future.
