Wireless sensor network (WSN) is composed of a large number of cheap, ubiquitous, with wireless communication and computing capabilities of the sensor nodes constitute a wireless self-organizing network system, its role is to obtain the data information of the monitored objects, and will collect the real-time data is sent to the user. Wireless sensor network is simple in structure, easy to adapt to the environment, the deployment of simple and other excellent features, it is good to meet the needs of people in the majority of the environment to get data. Wireless sensor networks can be used in environmental monitoring, disaster relief, military, medical, industrial and other fields. Due to the limited energy of the sensor, the wireless sensor network has a limited time. In wireless sensor networks, the energy consumption is serious, and the unreasonable routing protocol can increase the consumption of energy, so it is very important to study the routing protocol of wireless sensor networks. This paper introduces the role of routing protocols in wireless sensor networks, focuses on the analysis of planar routing and hierarchical routing, highlighting the advantages of cluster based routing. Secondly, the analysis of the LEACH protocol, and the problem of its existence to do the following improvements:LEACH protocol in cluster is ideally expected value, without considering the complexity of the actual environment. In this paper, combined with the actual environment factors, a reasonable number of cluster heads in the network computing.LEACH protocol does not take into account the node density factor in the cluster head election, which leads to the uneven distribution of cluster. The uneven distribution of sensor nodes also leads to the imbalance of the number of nodes in each cluster region, which causes the serious energy consumption of cluster head load in some cluster regions. In this paper, a method based on network node density is proposed, which can be divided into clusters. Uniformly distributed clusters can effectively balance the network load and improve the utilization efficiency of network energy.Describes the LEACH algorithm, introduce residual energy and node density in the threshold formula, improves the nodes with more residual energy to neighboring nodes, the more probability of cluster head node is elected, rationalization of the election of cluster head node selection.In view of the cluster head and the Sink node direct communication leads to the cluster head can consume the serious problem. Mixed data transmission mode combined with single hop data transmission and multi hop data transmission. Finally, the improved protocol and LEACH protocol are simulated and compared by using NS2 simulation platform, and the improved protocol is better than LEACH protocol in the network life cycle and energy efficiency.
