As one of the basic functions of museum, education is viewed as the primary duty of museum in the world wide. In China, museum education has been developed for more than one hundred years, while the most rapid development stage is the last thirty years after the reform and opening up policy.Shanghai is a pioneer of the museum education in China, she witnesses every historical stage of the development of museum education in our country. The evolution of museum education in Shanghai is just like a miniature of the museum education development in China. Based on these, my research focuses on the evolution of museum education in Shanghai from 1980 to 2015. My thesis is based on literature research and complemented by empirical investigation. Then I analyze the last thirty years’development of museum education in Shanghai from the contents of museum education, the means of museum education and the school-museum interactions. My thesis is hoped to outline a sketch of the development of museum education in Shanghai.The first part of the thesis gives a brief introduction of the reason of this selected topic, the research status about museum research and the characteristic of my research. At the same time, some related concepts and the general situation of museum education before 1980s in Shanghai are presented.The second to the forth chapter are the main parts of my thesis. In those parts, I do research on the development of museum education in the divided three historical stages:20s80s,1990-2007 and 2008-2015. The contents of museum education are carded, the means of museum education are presented and the school-museum interactions are analyzed.In the last chapter, aiming at the existing problems of the museum education in Shanghai, some suggestions are put forward.
