With increasing quality of life, people’s safety awareness is growing, the demand for video surveillance has become increasingly detailed. With the development of Internet technology, embedded technology, codec technology and electronic technology, video surveillance has evolved from traditional analog monitor, to the current definition, intelligent, network-oriented direction, in order to meet people’s needs.The thesis focuses on TMS320DM8168, which is TI’s new embedded video processing chip, to design a multi-channel digital video surveillance DVR, and detailed analysis of hardware and software frameworks. The thesis is mainly responsible for hardware demand analysis, device selection, power consumption and heat dissipation design, hardware rendering, analysis of the main module, the device hardware debugging, and software debugging to assist others.In terms of hardware, the thesis detailing design the system memory, power supply, reset, and the corresponding external interface, such as network, audio and video input and output, storage SATA, SD card, USB, serial, and other interfaces.In terms of software, the thesis introduces DM8168 software architecture framework introduced DVRRDK, and McFW API, and SysLink communications. Then, the thesis analyzes the chip initialization DM8168 configuration, clock configuration, memory, video input and output modules for analysis debugging.Through hardware and software debugging, the design and implementation of multi-channel DVR based on TMS320DM8168 have completed.
