In recent years, video surveillance in all areas of society has been usedwidely toensure the safety of people’sproperty which can also deter crime. But most of thesevideo surveillancehaspoor performance and functions but high price. Somulti-functionalintelligent video tracking system has broad market prospects which have cost-effective,high-performance,.So focused on the intelligent video surveillance platform, thisthesis starts from thecurrent situation of intelligent video surveillance platform. Requirements of the videosurveillance systemare analyzed and TI’s newest chip DM8168is introduced.Thensome hardware design methods, and software development environment as well asthe software framework are introduced including some creative debugging methodssuch as the usage of GDB and multi-core debug. At last, some key technologies,problems and their solutions are introduced during debugging the hardware andsoftware including system booting, software implementation, algorithmintegration andoptimization, GUI design,etc.About the hardware, parts of the schematic design and hardware debuggingareintroduced and then the system boots upsuccessfully. Concerning the software, a set ofintelligent video surveillance systemis developed based on Linux, SYS/BIOS,DVRRDK and MCFW framework. DM8168contains four cores. Video M3and VPSSM3are responsible for the capturing and displaying. ARM Cortex-A8is responsible fordevicescontrolling,video storingand QT displaying. DSP C674x is responsible forrunning mean-shift tracking algorithm, in which several optimization methods are used.Finally,a set of video surveillance system with functions of surveillance, recording,displaying and intelligent is completed with the cooperation of these cores.
