As the economy and information technology develop greatly, we have now lived better lives with the cars becoming the common mean of transport. Thus, the issue of traffic safety has attracted more attention. With the rapid development of China’s highway network during recent years, high-speed travel safety is a matter of concern to all people.Semiconductor industry is now evolving by leaps and bounds, and it’s easy to see that some LED display system has already approached our lives. As the design and manufacturing process along with engineering application level of LED display system improve continuously, we have already the precedents for the application of the ultra-energy-saving LED display system into highway as VMS (Variable Message Signs). Therefore, this paper researched and designed a remote-monitoring ultra-energy-saving LED display system powered by solar energy.It is usually difficult to distribute and take power with the LED display system installed on the highway. At present, there are more or less existing drawbacks with the common power supply systems. In order to In order to respond positively to the call of increasing income and decreasing expenditure by the government, this paper puts forward the solution of solar energy supply based on the actual situation of the highway, on one hand, meeting the normal power supply of equipment, on the other hand, avoiding the drawbacks of other power supply systems.The system uses solar energy as the main power supply system. In the region with abundant light supply, battery can be charged by the solar energy with the control of MPPT charge controller, and then the LED display system can be powered by the energy which has been stored in the battery in control of the voltage transformation module. At the same time, in order to make the system more convenient, we designed and developed a remote monitoring software, through which, the current battery power information, device load and etc. can be displayed clearly. Through our numerous experiments, it is proved that the system can run efficiently and stably.
