The Narrative Analysis On The Program Of "Waiting For Me"

On April 5,2014, CCTV-1 has launched a new program called "Waitingfor me" It’s a large non-profit tracing program. One of the most famous TV presenter in China called NiPing is the host. The program wins the reputation of the industry as well as the audience’s attention. The program builts a tracing way of all-media by means of national power,aiming at helping seeker to make their dreams of reunion a reality.The program group applies the successful narrative pattern and narrative skills to tell the real and hart-warming stories about tracing.Meanwhile,it spreads social issues with profound meaning.How to use the narrative pattern to restore and exhibit the stories and how to take care of the real humanity of the seekers in the process of narrative and to spread the most sincere emotion between people, how to use narrative skills to build the bridges of communication and understanding. All these are the key factors to success.The paper chooses 73 programs,the date ranges from April 5,2014,to February 2,2016, as sample to research and analysis. The research will apply the ways of case study and narrative analysis to study the topics and narrative skills of the program. The narrative analysis of the program is the motivation and target, and the research integrates the method of quantitative research and qualitative research. The research is based on the theory of narrative, as well as journalism and communication, the theory of drama, psychology, film narratology and other related theories. Meanwhile, the features of the program are related to the narrative content, narrator, narrative perspective, narrative time as well as narrative strategy. Through in-deepth study of the samples, the paper probes the narrative skills and strategies of the TV program.In this thesis, there are six parts. And the main research framework follows:The first part is introduction.lt introduces the background and significance of this paper, the status of domestic research and analysis, the methods of the research, the questions and research frameworks of the research, and the features and innovations of this paper. Meanwhile the paper analyzes the necessity of the narrative analysis of the " Waiting for me" program.The second part is the chapter one. It focuses on the feasibility of the narrative analysis and the theoretical sources of narrative theory of the program. The research analysises the background and the development of the Western Narratology and introduces the Narrative how to develop from "the Classical Narratology" to "the Postclassical Narratology ".At the same time,the paper introduces the originate and development of the Television Narratology. At last, the paper discuses the primary outcome of the Television Narrative Theory in China.The third part is the chapter two. It focuses on answering the question of what the program talk about? That is the answer of "what it said". The thesis uses the way of content analysis to explore the rule from the program launched to now. Through the statistical data, this thesis will literally view what stories do the program tell us? At the sanme time, this thesis will analysis the characteristics of the program content.Chapter three is focusing on the Narrator of the "Waiting/or me"program, which is the answer to the question of who are the speakersrin the process of story branding. This section will detailedly give a interpret of who tells these stories,not only includes TV presenter, seekers, guests and audiences,but also includes the group of programJn the end of this section, the thesis will summary the Narrators’character.Chapter four is focusing on the Narrative way of the "Waiting for we"program, which is the answer to the question of how to tell the stories. This section includes two parts. They are Narrative perspective and Narrative time. In the end of this section, the thesis will summary what the Narrative way used to tell those stores.Chapter five maimly study the Narrative skills and trategies in the’Waiting for 7we"program, which is the most important section of this research. Why some narrators could tell the same story obtained satisfactory effect, but others can not? This is involved in the Narrative skills and trategies. This paper will start from suspense, conflict and details to analysis how they work and performance in the program.In this thesis, there are two aspects of the characteristics and innovation.The first one is the innovation of the research perspective. The thesis is based on the Narratology, using the way of case studies, depth study of the "Waiting for me" program, to get rid of a simple list of narrative theory. Attempting to establish the ’Waiting for me" program as base, analysis the characteristic of the Narrator,the Narrative way, the Narrative skills and strategies.The thesis not only expend the view of the theory, but also provide helpful experiences.The second one is the paper place extra emphasising on substantive research on the "Waiting for me"program. The paper focus on the narrator skills and trategies,using a complete narratology case analysis.Based on detailed and deep-going analysis to the questionnaire,set an example for Chinese non-profit man-seeking program.At the same time, the research has realistic meaning and practical worth.The thesis chooses 73 programs, rangeing from April 5,2014,to February 2,2016, for sample to research and analysis. It combines micro and macro research, using the content analysis and case atudy, technical level and discourse research, to make timeliness and relevance analysis. Taking the program of "Waiting for me"for example, explore the rule on the theory of Narratology, and make more breakthrough and innovation on the research of the subject of Narratology.
