March 8,2014, one flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, which aircraft type is Boeing 777, lost contact with the control center. Malaysian Airlines lost contact because of the bizarre events particularity attracted media attention around the world. The national media coverage of events of varying levels of Malaysian Airlines. For example, the "New York Times", as the representative of the Western media, reported that Malaysian Airlines posted a number of key events, important information, but lost to the reasons for the in-depth analysis. As for the "People’s Daily", as the Chinese media representatives in the event of the Malaysian Airlines, report is not satisfactory. So where are the differences between the two media? What causes the difference is? This article is based on "People’s Daily" and "New York Times" reports on Malaysian Airlines incident comparative analysis, summary report of differences, and analyze the reasons for such differences exist, and finally put forward the corresponding improvement strategies.This paper selects from March 8,2014 to March 25, a total of 18 days of the "People’s Daily" and "New York Times", two newspapers on Malaysian Airlines incident reports for the study. In the framework of the theory as the theoretical basis, from the "People’s Daily" and "New York Times" reported content and reporting methods, analyzes the main frame and two newspapers reported differences in Malaysia Airlines incident, investigate the causes of the differences from the macro and micro two aspects are discussed. The reason is that different media macroscopic properties and national positions, because China does not have a strong microeconomic data network, the drawbacks of one dollar legacy of propagation modes and Chinese journalists lack of professional knowledge and so on. For the "People’s Daily" based Chinese media made corresponding recommendations in reports of similar incidents of sudden disaster, in order to improve China’s external communication capabilities, and improve the international image of Chinese media. I hope this preliminary study carried out in the future be able to Chinese media reports of sudden disaster helpful.
