The framework of disaster reporting is often a concentrated expression of the media's narrative strategy and position when reporting disaster events.Based on the framework theory, this paper takes the reports related to the flood disaster in southern China in 2020 as the research object, analyzing 933 contents from People's daily,Hubei Daily and Chutian Metropolis Daily,to investigate the reporting framework and presentation of these three newspapers of the flood disaster in 2020.It is found that,in terms of the number of reports, all three newspapers showed a degree of concern corresponding to the degree of flood damage. From the perspective of reporting tendency, these newspapers mainly report positive news, supplemented by neutral reports.Contrary to imagination,in this study, the proportion of negative reports in Chutian Metropolis Daily was higher than that of the other two newspapers. From the perspective of genre selection, the brief news was the most popular among the three newspapers, followed by newsletter. And the reporting genres relied on for positive and negative reports were slightly different. From the perspective of the content, the three newspapers had different focuses. The content of the People's Daily was more macro, emphasizing official disaster relief operations, disaster information, macro policies and political mobilization. The content of the Chutian Metropolis Daily was more micro. In addition to reports on official disaster relief operations and disaster information,Chutian Metropolis Daily paid more attention to the typical characters, touching deeds, personal experiences, and disaster impacts. While,Hubei Daily was more abundant and comprehensive in its coverage. In terms of reporting targets, the three newspapers paid the most attention to government staffs, military and police. In addition,People's Daily and Hubei Daily paid more attention to leaders' activities, while Chutian Metropolis Daily paid more attention to disaster victims. In addition, the study also found that, the reporting frameworks of these three media had undergone a certain shift during the different stages of the flood disaster. The specific manifestation was the change from "flood fighting" to "moving feelings in the world." While,in the whole progress, the official attribute was always emphasized. The reports based the facts had been reflected to a greater extent. The basic information and the impact of the disaster were fully reported. And the Press Professionalism was partly reflected, also. But on the other hand, the reports were still unable to completely break free from the shackles of using disaster relief behavior to replace the disaster itself.Humanistic care was also reflected in the reports.Chutian Metropolis Daily often focused on the victims' experiences and living conditions.People's Daily and Hubei Daily focused on the warmth of humanity in the disaster relief, showing the friendship between the military and the victims.Generally speaking, national newspapers and local newspapers,market-oriented newspapers, and the newspapers of CPC often display different reporting frameworks when reporting catastrophic events.National newspapers present a overall reporting framework under the guidance of political propaganda, leading public opinion and stabilizing the people.Local newspapers present a localized reporting framework under the guidance of political propaganda, paying more attention to the fate of individuals.Newspapers of CPC emphasize propaganda, weakening supervision, and everything is about stability. While market-oriented newspapers influenced by both the logic of political propaganda and the logic of the market, are more sympathetic and critical.
