From July 7, 1937 to August 15, 1945, it was the period of Anti-Japanese War. China finally has obtained the victory of the war due to the soldiers and civilians united. Because of the aggression of Japanese imperialism, the country is facing a severe situation, such as the people displaced. The development of the newspaper industry has suffered heavy losses, especially the private newspaper. Before the war, the private newspaper industry has experienced three stages of development to booming time. But with the beginning of the war, the development of the private newspaper without relying on newspaper has begun to decline. With the KMT adopted the policy of nonresistance, the war began to lost. The national government had to move, the private newspapers also moved to the inland. In this period, the development of private newspaper can be divided into Nanjing Shanghai area, Wuhan area, Chongqing area, Guilin area and other areas. In these areas, the development of the private newspapers are also different. With the development of the Anti Japanese War, the national government recognized the importance of news media in the statism. In the Kuomintang controlled areas, It began to implement press censorship measures. In contrast, Private newspapers have taken a different development strategy.
