In the last 10 years, the proportion of data traffic in the total amount of is increasing, the traditional telecommunications network data transmission technology has been difficult to meet these technical and business needs. Thus, in the international, ITU-T has defined a new generation of optical transmission technology system, namely optical transmission network(OTN) system, and many foreign companies have launched commercial programs. The technology scheme will gradually change the existing transmission scheme. In China, HUAWEI and other telecom equipment companies also launched the corresponding OTN solutions. At the same time, China’s telecom operators are also increasing the cost of technology and investment, to update the original SDH and other transmission network.This thesis mainly discusses the reform of the provincial OTN of Ningxia telecom. This technique is also involved in the application of SDH and optical transmission networks. We begin with a detailed overview of the relevant optical transport network definition, technology background, technology and its commercial development at home and abroad. Secondly, we focus on the network planning of the two trunk(two core) transmission systems, which includes the application of the network topology, network topology, planning problems and equipment selection, etc. Secondly, the network construction of optical transmission network is discussed, such as the construction of the network, the construction scheme of optical transmission network and network management. The conclusion of this paper is the conclusion of this thesis.
