With the rapid development of mobile Internet and multimedia network technology,people's demand of network bandwidth is greatly increased,resulting in a significant increase of the proportion of Ethernet business and a gradually decrease of the proportion of traditional voice business in telecommunication network carrying business,so as to promote the development of optical communication technology.As is known to us that,Optical Transport Network(OTN)has many advantages,such as multi-business package,transparent transmission,large particles business scheduling,standard multiplexing and mapping structure,strong Operation Administration and Maintenance(OAM)ability,perfect the FEC mechanism,rich maintenance signal and consummate protection mechanism,so it is gradually replacing the traditional Wavelength Division Multiplexing(WDM)network.Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexeing(ROADM)technology is the key of the OTN network nodes and the OTN networks with the ROADM technology have the flexibility of the wavelength scheduling and the ability of cross network.The main purpose of this thesis is to design a ROADM system which can meet the needs of the future network and apply the it in the OTN network.The main contents of this thesis are as follows:(1)the basic principles of OTN network and WDM network are introduced,and the evolution of transport network from WDM to OTN is described;(2)the basic principles of ROADM technology and three kinds of implementation schemes are studied.The advantages and disadvantages of those implementation schemes are compared,and then the WSS-based ROADM is chosen as the next generation ROADM;(3)A Colorless,Directionless,Contentionless and Gridless(CDCG)ROADM system is designed and implemented,then its performance parameters are tested.After tests,the results are analyzed in detail to verify the feasibility of the design.(4)the application of ROADM system in Metro OTN and provincial trunk network is studied.
