Corruption is one permanent historical issue posing threat to the stability and development of society. Combating corruption and advocating integrity have always had priority on the agenda of Chinese Communist Party(CCP) and government, which makes anti-corruption reportage one of the focuses of media. As a news app initiated by the ORIENTAL MORNING POST of Shanghai United Media Group aiming to establish a media brand with the concept “Powerful As It Used To Be”, The Paper tries to create an open media platform focusing on current politics and thinking with chasing original reports over political situation of the time. Its column SNATCHING TIGERS is a typical outcome of such media pursuit. Reports in this column target corruption cases and officials involved, analyze the truth and dig out values behind these stories.Adhering to such reporting orientation, SNATCHING TIGERS shows outstanding characteristics regarding its agenda setting of anti-corruption reportage. Mainly devoted to revealing corruption cases and advocating clean public service, it showcases the whole situation of crackdown on corruption at present with mass production of content at high frequency; creates an information-source network featuring official channels as dominant sources and diverse unofficial channels as supplementary ones, integrating anti-corruption reportage from traditional media and new media; emphasizing on media’s watchdog role, continuously and mainly delivers critical reports every day; this column shows its traits via writing technique of combining sole heading and diverse leads, flexible writing structures and balance of language styles of sobriety and literary grace. With its special charm of anti-corruption coverage, SNATCHING TIGERS offers successful reporting experience in this field: integrating printed newspaper and online platform to make them complementary; applying standard expression & solemn reporting style, and strict reporting procedure to ensure news quality. There are also some disadvantages for sure: the proportion of original anti-corruption reportage is small and balance report needs further enhancement. In the context of new media, anti-corruption coverage has to stick to the followings to obtain positive effects: developing a sense of brand, making competitive columns; deepening news reports and strengthening the role of watchdog; paying more attention to all-around coverage and lifting the level of information openness.
