News media are always regarded as the bridge between objective reality and subjective reality.Selecting and processing the objective reality of anti-corruption news and presenting the subjective results in front of readers and audience is the framework constructed by news media.Meanwhile, the ideology, means and effects of this anti-corruption news framework have very important influence on the overall image of China and the Party, the public opinion environment as well as the harmony and stability of society.By focusing on the characteristics reflected by the anti-corruption reports published by several Metropolitan Dailies in China, the study is trying to summarize the main problems and the influencing factors in this aspect and finally put forward relative improvement strategies.By choosing certain representative Metropolitan Dailies(namely,Beijing News,Southern Metropolitan News,Huaxi Metropolis Daily and Yangtse Evening Post)from four areas of the north, south, east and west of China, the study calculated 1,338 anti-corruption reports by the four media in 2015 and analyzed their significance and news framework type.In terms of significance, the study centered on the four dimensions of the report length, page, story description and discontinuousness/continuousness and has learned that these reports are mainly short, located in the inner page,in the form of messages and news, and seldom successively released. In terms of news framework type, these reports are mainly telling tasks and achievements on anti-corruption and are more likely to air views and standpoints through making comments.By the way, although sex news account for a relatively low percentage, there is a tendency that the anti-corruption reports on most Metropolitan Dailies will emphasize more on the emotional, erotic and vulgar aspects of the news.According to the above-mentioned analysis, the author has drawn a conclusion that the anti-corruption reports by our Metropolitan Dailies are characterized by the problems of inconspicuousness, similar contents,prone-sensation,and lacking constructive substantiality. There are many reasons for the problems, including factors regarding politics and systems, market, media organization and the emergence of the new media. In order to effectively improve the status quo as stated above, the author believed that the media should start with three measures: first of all,the media should uphold journalistic professionalism and shoulder social responsibilities, such as sticking to the objectivity of the story, striking a balance among political functions, economic results and social responsibilities and improving the professional qualities of the journalists;secondly, the media should facilitate their role change and reinforce the cooperation with governments, which means they should adjust their relation with the governments, maintain the cooperation and strengthen the supervisory relation between them;last but not least, the media should publish more constructive reports and enhance the supervision by public opinions via describing the “qualitative change” of the corrupt officials, highlighting the inner origin of their crimes, paying attention to their repentance, reshaping the image of Chinese government officials and avoiding the “trial by media”,and finally ensure justice and the proper enforcement of law in China.
